Just don't waste your time buying from Amazon

I was sent two different items. One is longer than the other. A different number of turns of the coil relative to each other. One has a rubber boot, the other a plastic one. The boot on one isn't stamped so it just flops

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Requires an outlet

It's nice to drive but I don't think they meet OE specs.

Easy assembly overall, rides well, but ran into a trap right at the last post. I don't think the threaded studs in the rack mount are exactly OE specs. The latter cut off 20-25 ft/lbs straight away as others have mentioned. Otherwise we'll see if it's worth the higher price point compared to the Econo-matic and some imported products. I kinda doubt it, but let's see how they perform over the next few years.

Pros
  • Robust design
Cons
  • Slightly dented

Monroe 171281 Quick Strut

When you need to replace the struts on your car, Quick Struts are the right choice! Yes they are more expensive but if you do it yourself you will still save hundreds. Then the additional difference between Struts and Quick Struts is minimal. If your struts are bad, your springs are probably weakened and your next struts won't last that long anyway. I would pay the difference just to save time! It took me less time to install them than replacing the brake pads. In addition, there is no need toโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Cable is shorter than others

Great easy to install product.

Actually bought front and rear. They arrived nicely boxed with warning stickers saying the nut should not be removed from the top and as I bought assemblies so I didn't have to screw in the compression springs I'm guessing these are for the less savvy . They come with stock hardware for the top only. So if your bottom screws are rusty, you still need to buy them. (Because mine was fine I just reused the old stuff). It took less than 2 hours to do all 4 struts. You must install the top beforeโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • I don't remember, but there was something

The old used shelf is sold as new. Solved Thanks Amazon

The rear 171281 are very different from each other. A box is one inch shorter and side-by-side is 1/2 square inch smaller. The barcode and tags on the box are identical. Looking around the smaller rack, I notice big differences. The top plate is slightly smaller, the spring has only 7 turns instead of 9. The top soundproofing sheet is missing, the metal top seat cover for the bumper has no flange, the bumper has a completely different shape and color, the trunk looks like a aftermarket splitโ€ฆ

  • Certified

2 ordered, 1 was defective

Last weekend I fitted new racks on all four wheels, two of these part number on my rear wheels. When I tried it out, I immediately noticed that I was getting a rattling ring and a thud from one of them. I thought maybe it was just that I hadn't gotten the alignment yet or that the spring wasn't fully installed. Upon further inspection I found that the master nut (which holds the coil spring) was not fully tightened and I had about a quarter inch of play where the washer rang. The stand wasโ€ฆ

Great racks and fairly easy installation

I bought four racks for my '95 Pontiac Sunfire Convertible and my husband installed them with the help of my nephew. The project was easy if you have the right tools. Using a 1/2" socket wrench with an extension handle was unable to remove the bottom bolts. Using a 300ft impact wrench immediately loosened the bolts. You will need a torque wrench to tighten the bottom bolts to about 130ft. lbs and top bolts up to approximately 50 ft-lbs when installing new struts. Consult your service manual for

Pros
  • Very impressive
Cons
  • Little repairability
