New Shocks = New Ride

My old shocks have done about 110,000 miles so I suspect something new would be better. The Monroe was fairly easy to install if you have an impact wrench, and the ride was greatly improved.

Pros
  • Quality Construction
Cons
  • Operating Speed

I love the handling of these shock absorbers

I love the handling of these shock absorbers. I installed them on a 2003 Chevy Silverado SS and I have to say these are "performance" shocks, not off-road. Nice hard ride that keeps the truck on the pavement. Recommended when performance and handling are more important than comfort!

Pros
  • Regular price
Cons
  • No paint required

Next time I'll look for a different shock absorber.

Not as advertised. I had to drill out the bottom ends to mount the bracket and for the top ends I had to use old washers and bushings. The red is a lot better than mine with the worn shocks, but it's not great. But the price was ok. Next time I'll look for a different shock absorber.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Confusing

Good damper for the price Revain

I've had these dampers on my truck for a couple of weeks now and am happy with the ride and handling - the feel seems comparable to the original OEM damper. There is one problem though: This shock model (911151) is listed by Monroe for my 1999 Chevy Silverado Z71 pickup, but these shocks do not extend full travel like the OEM shocks did (and should). As a result, you have to raise the suspension a few inches to install the shock (problem). As I don't drive this truck off-road I rarely use full…

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Not sure
