To check for quality defects.

When I received the Morakniv knife I bought from Revain it had a small chip on the edge of the blade, I wanted to return the knife but it's not damaged enough to make all the hassle to survive and it took few weeks since it was received and not returned. If you buy Moraniv knives, be sure to check them for quality and defects upon receipt. This knife is the only Morakniv knife I've ever bought, but I'll admit that apart from the chips on it, it was very, very sharp and the handle feels great in

Big and sharp like a razor

Of course, this knife is not suitable for cutting branches and trees. It is ideal for skinning game, filleting fish and all other uses in the kitchen. It's a bit big to carry around for self-defense, but it will be effective. It has a huge blade with a hunting tip and the scabbard has a padded belt loop. In the first photo he's standing next to another Mora with a 4" blade, you can see the different style of scabbard and blade. The other picture is next to the 5.8" carbon version of the blade…

If you only had to wear one.

Great product (although I love their entire line). VERY sharp out of the box. I believe the edge is laser cut. Polished blade. .great value for money and I'll be damned if I can't find anything wrong with this knife. I have used a variety of blades for camping, hunting and survival expeditions for over 30 years and Morakniv is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands. Personally, I am embarrassed that a friend brought their existence to my attention as I had never heard of them before. I have

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something

The 8.1" blade is the Mora 749. The blade is 2mm or 0.078" thick and slightly thinner than other 2.5mm or 0.098" All Around knives. the weight in the blade is something that makes the balance not as bad as one might expect. Due to the thinner steel blade I will not use it for rough tasks but will use it in my kitchen. it's sharp and well made, but I don't trust the thickness of the blade for rough work. This is the longest open air mora I have ever seen. It will work perfectly as a high quality

Another great addition to my Morakniv collection

Well, first things first - this is not a bushcraft knife! For people concerned about maintaining the edge, this is a gift from Mora and after you've sharpened the knife 1-2 times for the first time, all imperfections will be removed. Same goes for Companions, Classics, etc. They are very sharp, like most Moras, but they can all be sharpened much finer. YouTube search How to perfect your mora if that bothers you, but I find a regular wet stone and sharpening experience is enough. The…

Works great as an all-purpose kitchen knife; Excellent value for money

Although advertised as an outdoor knife, this 8.1 inch knife is great for the home kitchen. It's very sharp and cuts through meat and vegetables with ease, a delight for what I usually consider a fairly mundane task. The knife is thick enough to be strong, thin enough to slice easily and long enough to slice through an entire ham or roast. The clip tip seems more suited to a camping or combat knife, but allows the knife to make precise cuts when removing small bits of fat from meat, for…

Inexpensive Can't believe it's not worth more

Mora knives for a Swedish company are a solid choice for outdoor pursuits. I've had Ka Bars, Cold Steel, Buck Knives, Leatherman's, Victorinox, Benchmade etc. My first knife was a Victorinox when I became a Boy Scout. My father is a hunter and outdoor enthusiast. Over time we have acquired custom knives from Frank Gonzalez or Chris Reeves which are expensive to say the least. For the past 25 years, we've had both cheap knives (you get what you pay for) and expensive knives. I was first…
