nice but. - Motorcycle & Powersports

Good in theory, but the threading I need is too deep to use in a 5-in-1 multi. One on each side would be fine, but multiple didn't work for me. Damn.

Pros
  • Heavy Duty Construction
Cons
  • Zero

Not for Ohlins forks

Very good tool as are all Motion Pro products. However, due to its design, it will not engage threads on Ohlins forks. Use part number 08-0337 instead.

Pros
  • Hands free operation
Cons
  • Faulty

Works well. As intended.

Works as intended. Sometimes it is difficult to ensure that it is fully activated. But in general it works. It is hard to imagine that the universal tool could be much better.

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Long delivery time

Modification may be needed

I had to cut off the end of the tool to get the thread engagement in the M10 x 1.0 area. Nested thread placement is a good idea, but in practice it doesn't seem to work on modern damper rods with limited thread depth. The good news is that you can easily customize the tool to suit your needs. The bad news is that you'll likely lose certain thread settings in the process, and you don't actually have to modify the tool to use all of the thread sizes listed.

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Damaged

Good idea, terrible execution.

The nested threads idea is good on paper, but doesn't work for damper rods where the threads don't start at the very top of the rod. The hole is not drilled deep enough to engage the threads because the shaft is pushing against the back of the hole. Sloppy design work, it would take 1 extra second to drill it deeper while they turn them on the CNC lathes. If you are unsure whether the threads on your damper rod start at the top of the shaft rather than further down, don't buy this. I learnedโ€ฆ
