🔧 Enhanced Motorcraft CX-2409 Canister Purge Valve Review

Fixed an issue where my Ford Edge would not start well after refuelling. My check engine light came on and I cleared the codes. both banks got rich. After some searching and correlating the rich bank fill problem, I found that this is probably the culprit. Tests performed on the evaporator system which showed a malfunction. I set that and voila, no more bugs and no bad launch characteristics after the first fill up. The Ford IDS EVAP test was also a success.

It costs up to $200 to put somewhere. Block is $24, installs in 7 minutes, I timed it. You need an 8mm head and that's it. Look on youtube. I don't do it myself with my truck anymore, but it wasn't difficult with it. When you take the old one out, suck or blow into one of the vents. If it lets air through, it won't work. You'll see what I mean, if you do the same thing with the new one, air won't get through. The electrical connection should be the only thing opening this valve.

2014 Explorer P0456 code. I've cleaned the tank nozzle multiple times, but there was a P0456 error code all the time. In the end I decided to buy a valve and yes it was stuck in the open position. You can check if the valve is ok while it's on the engine. Disconnect the electrical connector and hose and check for vacuum. I have a 2011 F150 Platinum with a 5.0 engine. Average consumption per gallon has decreased slightly in recent years.
