I'm very glad I got rid of the rented modem/router!

I've noticed that my speeds are well below my Internet plan (Extreme 250) and I did a little research and discovered that there is a hidden network that works with mine. This is Comcast's home security service, and while I don't have it, it annoys me that the network can't be removed or disabled. I suspected this was causing my internet speed to slow down, so I bought a Motorola MT7711. It was very easy to set up and the hidden network was gone and my speeds increased significantly. The only…

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Almost everything is available

Installed very quickly and activated on the Comcast network in about 10 minutes. I checked my account when the modem was up and running and the hardware list showed my new device and the correct serial number. VOIP took about 1/2 hour to become fully functional but that is the nature of VOIP calls as it takes a while to update the ANI/ALI table. A small problem with the technical documentation is that it should contain a list of post-installation tasks and step-by-step instructions for changing

If you want Xfinity Voice

Based on my research, this is the best option I've found. If you don't need voice service from Xfinity, there are cheaper options with the same quality. The product itself has 5 stars, deducting one star because of the price. The price is artificially high due to the very small number of options that include speech. Since I live in the forest, my cell phone at home is unreliable, I need a land line. In terms of customization, Motorola appears to have an agreement with Comcast to certify their…

This modem/router deserves 10 stars!

I was lucky enough to find this modem/router combo, it solved my connection problems within 15 minutes, easy to install and hook up without calling comcast or even plugging in a usb cable myself plugged it in and turned on my computer, it automatically redirected me to the comcast website, all i had to do was click the connect icon and voila, i was up and running in seconds, same with my phone, and not yet Call Comcast. I will be using their gateway modem for a few days until I am sure this new

Poor Wi-Fi router - unreliable

I bought this cable modem/router to add Xfinity Voice to my home. My previous cable modem and Wi-Fi router worked fine but didn't have voice (VoIP) capability. When it arrived I set everything up, everything worked perfectly and I connected all devices. After two days, the WiFi stopped working - first the 2.4 GHz band stopped working, and then the 5G band. Then our phones stopped working. That was the last straw. I sent it back and received a new router of the same model. The second one came…

perfect replacement for Comcast Xfinity Modem

Easiest setup I've ever tried. I just connected it to the cable and turned it on. My computer immediately opened the Xfinity website and I simply entered my Comcast username and password. A few minutes later I was back online. DONE! My download speed has increased from 250 mb/s to 295! First, it's much easier to reconnect all peripherals (computer, iPad, Nest, etc.) as long as you use the same username and password as you did on your previous Wi-Fi network. The best part was when I returned my…

  • Absolutely amazing!

Ok but not great. Installation

The device seems to be good. Build quality is excellent. Wifi is better than average. 2.4GHz is powerful and fast with good coverage in my house. % GHz is good, but over short distances the signal quality degrades quickly as you move away from the device. This is normal for 5GHz. Being an IT pro and having worked for a long time, I would say that installing it on Comcast wasn't as easy as some people think. I read a lot of reviews saying they just hook it up with coax, turn on the computer and…

YOU SHOULD STILL CALL COMCAST!

I bought this because Comcast increased their monthly rental from $11 to $13 effective January 1, 2019. I've always had a gateway (modem and router in one device). I know most techs who said they should buy a separate modem and router. However, I've never had a problem with the gateway unit and didn't want to have 2 units in the house (my personal choice). We also do not trade in games or similar things. I also have a triple play package with Comcast (internet, cable and phone). I don't care…
