Purchased for use with Alienware 17 r4 laptop. It's a heavy and large (10 lb) machine. Upon opening, I found: * Sheet metal is fairly thin; thick enough maybe for 3 threads. Very well done. Sturdy metal construction. However, it's too big for today's thin laptops. Its profile is too big (see picture) and the laptop release clips are not very good. They need to be configured to be closed and used in clamshell mode, which isn't fast. Also, they are plastic and don't seem to be durable. I bought two of these, used one for a few weeks and returned the other which is much better.

tablet conforms to description, VESA mount might be ok (contrary to some other reviewers). I'm deducting a star for a few minor inconveniences: 1. The 13-inch MacBook Air wobbles a bit on the shelf. 2. The bottom stops prevent the laptop from sliding down but allow the bottom of the laptop to move up and down while typing, aiding in rocking. Buy again at this price (about $20)

Really good mount but my laptop is exactly 16.5" wide ( left to right) and does NOT fit the side clips Which is a shame as one of the pictures in the post says it fits laptops up to 16.5" wide (I would say it fits laptops with a width of up to 14.5 inches). Luckily the side clips are optional so I just left them out and it works fine. It seems fairly stable and secure, but without the side clips I'd recommend making sure the stand you're attaching the mount to doesn't slide off easily to avoid…
