Excellent quality - engine cooling and air conditioning

Maintains temperature very well. I have an El Camino 67 that was overheating on my 355 CI. This thermostat fixed the problem where thermostats with automatic zone setting could not.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Retrofittable

Works as advertised. IT'S GOOD!

The car was warmed up. Secure. 220 degrees. It turned out that the old thermostat was defective. Right. Threw Mr. thermostat gasket and the temperature dropped to 180 degrees. Hard work on my Ford 302! Thank you engineers :( Thank you Mr Gasket.

Pros
  • Very fast delivery
Cons
  • No instructions

Works great and cools the temp

I put this right into my Pontiac 350 to keep the temp a few degrees cooler on a very hot day. My operating temperature dropped 10-15 degrees Fahrenheit but was still in the 180-190 range. It works as intended and is clearly leaking more coolant than those sold at the parts store.

Pros
  • Lots of positive vibes
Cons
  • So-so

Works but not quite as advertised

I installed this on my 1976 Mustang Cobra II to replace a faulty thermostat. With a defective unit, the engine reached 235 degrees at idle. I flushed the system, installed this thermostat, then quickly refilled and busted the line. My temperature is now reading somewhere between 205-210 degrees. Not sure if I have a bad block or if my 302 is getting that hot. I just hope that when the scorching Arizona summer hits, I won't have to switch back.

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Clarity

Hothead? for engine cooling and air conditioning

No, not at all with this little gem. I couldn't find a thermostat I liked and after reading and doing some homework I decided to put one of these on my 1972 Jeep CJ5 after my new Stant thermostat wouldn't open. This engine has a fresh top and really doesn't want to burn it. It's all brass and not just assembled so I was very happy to throw it in my distributor along with a fresh case. Thanks to the guys at Mr. Seal for the good part of keeping me cool.

Pros
  • great for me
Cons
  • protection

Maintains a very constant temperature under heavy loads

Excellent in every way. I had some issues with the 1969 Ford 428 Cobra Jet engine holding a consistent temperature and going high where it should be. Heavy loads will pull from 195 to 210 under load and then drop to 185 at idle with two electric fans (2000 cfm x 2) – i.e. even under extreme loads. I'll be able to balance a bit better with the fan control settings. It's nice to not have +/- 15 degrees of deviation and to be on top with a conditional t-stat.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Off fashion
