Description of πŸ”§ Enhanced Grip Bulb Changer: Mr. Longarm 4003

The Mr. Longarm heavy duty bulb changer attaches to an extension pole and allows the user to remove and replace exposed light bulbs quickly and easily. Flexible fingers slide over and grasp exposed bulbs for easy changing. It will also work with fixtures that surround the bulb where the total diameter of the fixture opening is 1.5" larger than the diameter of the bulb to be replaced. This bulb changer expands up to 90mm (3.5") in diameter and can be used to change most bulbs that are 2.375" - 3.5" in diameter. Fits standard pear-shaped, globe-shaped and some compact fluorescent bulbs. It will not work with floodlight style bulbs. Recommended for use with Mr. Longarm non-conductive extension poles. Made in the U.S.A.

suitable for chandeliers and pointed bulb ceiling fans

It worked - I fixed it with DocaPole and used it to remove ceiling fans. I thought it wouldn't work, but it gripped tight enough to remove and install the headlights. I don't think this will work on a regular lamp, although it's probably too narrow.

Pros
  • Recommended for use with Mr. Longarm
Cons
  • Not sure

Good, but not so good: incandescent lamps

I used this on my ceiling fan about 15 feet tall. I wanted to break the lightbulb or knock the ceiling fan out of its mount but luckily that didn't happen and the lightbulb came out fine. However, I was never able to put in a new bulb, so I had to pull out the ladder anyway. To be fair, part of the problem was that my socket was crooked, so maybe next time I try it will work just fine. I wonder if they should consider slightly lower spring tension and silicone coating in future models.

Pros
  • Suitable for standard bulbs, spherical lamps and some compact fluorescent lamps. This will not work with spotlight style bulbs
Cons
  • Fix

It was too tight. Go around the high ceiling lightbulb to remove it = break it. Attempting to insert a new pear caused the pear to slide lower and lower and jam the threaded head. I used the napkins in the basket to shorten the length to put this bulb in, but I couldn't screw it in tight, just enough to turn it on but not quite. Ingesting spiral tubers (the reason I bought these) is dangerous. The basket is so tight that it breaks the turns. Try something different. Note: I bought a long stand…

Pros
  • Made in the USA
Cons
  • Could have chosen a newer model

false advertising!

Used for the first time today (7-08-16). the product does not pass through the compact fluorescent lamp into the downlight. He grabbed the bulb far enough to unscrew it, but then you find the bulb balanced on the end of the pole (ceiling 10 feet), but only for a moment. The lamp hits the tiled floor, the floor wins. Insert the new bulb deep enough to grab, but now it's too big for the recessed light. Go to the garage, take the ladder, finish the project.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Good but not great for lightbulbs

I used this on my ceiling fan which is about 15 feet tall. Pulling out the blown CFL bulb required so much force to attach the bracket to the bulb that I figured I would either smash the bulb or knock the ceiling fan out of the bracket but luckily that didn't happen and the bulb came in okay out. However, I was never able to put in a new bulb, so I had to pull out the ladder anyway. To be fair, part of the problem was that my socket was crooked, so maybe next time I try it will work just fine…

Pros
  • Absolute Legend
Cons
  • Great Price

Job done, had to add spacers

that needed replacing standard size bulbs in a 20ft ceiling fan. If the bulbs were firmly seated in the zip tie when the light was installed, you'll have trouble with this unit as well, but I got it to work. The design is a little too deep for regular 60 watt bulbs. I had to add paper towels - maybe a piece of tape at the bottom of the basket would be enough so I could position and support the new bulb properly for installation - without the extra padding the bulb would have slipped too far…

Pros
  • , good thing
Cons
  • I don't remember but there was something
