Description of ๐Ÿ”ฅ Red MSD 31189 Super Conductor Spark Plug Wire Set, 8.5mm

Copper alloy conductor has a resistance value of less than 50 ohms per foot for superior spark. Ferro-magnetic impregnated core creates an effective EMI choke. Forty feet of conductor is wound into a single foot of wire for high EMI suppression; Conductor core features Dupont Kevlar material for increased tensile strength. Durable outer sleeve is a proprietary compound for resistance to high heat or abrasion. Stainless steel terminals feature dual crimp tabs to grip wire conductor and outer jacket separately.

Easy to cut, crimp and load!

Easy to cut, crimp and load for a custom fit. I still have enough left over for my sleds and motorbikes! I didn't use a vise, I used a cordless/camlock pliers and it worked great and a lot faster.

Cons
  • Too Long To Wait

Nice Wires on Ignition Parts

Obviously they require work and while assembly is time consuming it's nice to have a custom product when you're done. And not to mention the quality of this connector cable set - very, very nice. 8.5mm is really the best you can get and better than most applications need, but it works really well with upgraded ignition systems or high voltage setups. Oh, and PS, they contain nifty little wire numbers that can be wrapped around each wire - tighten them before crimping the end of each one! ;-)

Cons
  • No Mold Required

MSD is successful again!

I love MSD products and this one was perfect for my needs. I'm preparing 400 SBCs for my 69 C-20 and everything went smoothly. Cutting and measuring was easy with the motor on the stand. The quality of these cables is second to none and the instructions are concise and easy to understand for any professional looking to upgrade their ignition for maximum performance. I'm including some photos of this setup for those willing to make this change. Buy with confidence. Raging rat

Still the best set of wires

I've tried a number of wires over the years but still go back to the MSD 8.5mm. The boots are made of high quality silicone that will not dry out or burn even near the collectors. The terminals have a double crimp (one crimp over the insulation for its secure fixation, the second crimp for the conductor). I haven't seen double crimps on other brands, they bend the wire back over the insulation and crimp it all in one crimp. I also like that the distributor terminal makes a very positive "click"

Cons
  • no instructions

For that amount, an MSD should have everything you need!

I like the design of these wires, but I think the "custom length" approach saves MSD money and time, but not the end user. Not all of these cables are the same length. They are pre-cut to match the spacing of each cylinder to some extent. Then why not just put on a shoe? Or provide everything you need to complete the task! You can't assemble these wires without a vise/pliers and some sort of lube to slide the sheath on, so the buyer has to spend more money. At least add some lube so we canโ€ฆ
