Description of πŸ”₯ MSD Blaster 8226 Ignition Coil

Works with stock ignition systems as well as mad-equipped cars and trucks. Bolt-in replacement coil produces more output voltage. If you plan to install an MSD Ignition with your blaster GM coil, use an MSD harness (Part number 8876) for easy plug and play. OBD II and CARB approved; legal for use in all states.

That's a great role.

Excellent coil. Well done and looks good on the engine. Bought this and a new Cardone junction box. Installs in about 35 minutes. even in the low 20's here in Alaska. Good product!

Caddy loves more sparks

Coil installs easily. Had to drill rivets out of an old bracket to use with this reel. Pleased that 2 screws for the bracket are included in the kit. Installed in 90 Brom 5.7. I feel an improvement but I also redid the wires, spark plug cap and rotor. I'll keep my old spool just in case.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • No instructions

Great value and reliability

Direct mount to my 1987 Chevy S10 2.5L Iron Duke I used this cable and an 8.5mm MSD SuperConductor cable set to upgrade my truck . This with a few other minor modifications gets me 32-35 mpg on the freeway. I installed this in 2011. Since then I have traveled over 45,000 miles.

Pros
  • cool product
Cons
  • poorly thought out

Different part, same part number

I have MSD ignition systems in all my cars and am happy with them. All cars have MSD 6A multiple spark discharge systems, so I know the coils will bounce. They fail after 80-100k miles so I carry a spare coil with me. No problem, this is to be expected on any vehicle that has a hotter ignition system than stock. This is not the reason for my bad rating. My 1992 Chevrolet had a part number 8226 MSD that failed, so I ordered a part number 8226 MSD to replace it. The current 8226 is NOT the same…

Pros
  • Fits me great
Cons
  • Weight
