MSD vs FAST for parts

Good product, much larger footprint than my old FAST but MSD seems to have better online product support. FAST good when you call but hard to find what I was looking for online

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • Big and bulky

NO WARRANTY on Ignition Parts

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT ON AMAZON. THERE IS NO WARRANTY, AGAIN, IF YOU BUY THROUGH AMAZON THERE IS NO WARRANTY! IT DID NOT WORK AND WHEN I CALL MSD I WAS TOLD IF YOU BUY IT ON AMAZON THERE WAS NO WARRANTY! AMAZON IS A THIRD PARTY PROVIDER. I PURCHASED IN NOVEMBER 2019 AND CALL MSD IN FEBRUARY 2020.

Pros
  • Excellent Construction
Cons
  • Frequency

Noticeable improvement, great product

I installed them on some of my Porsche 911 to replace old capacitive discharge systems from the 60's and 70's. This is a great product, I have never had a single failure even on my race cars. The improvement is noticeable; easier all-weather starts, quieter idle, slightly more responsive throttle response. The kit comes with some leftovers to make installation easier.

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • Error occurred

Worked perfectly, best in spares

My vintage 1973 Mach 1 Mustang already had an MSD ignition system that worked great. But it had a 6425 6 Ignition Control Module and I wanted to be able to limit the engine speed. The 6AL block was plugged directly into the same connector that was previously plugged into the "6" conditional module with no rev limiter function. I "tested" the 6AL and found that it works great keeping the engine RPM within the limits I set for the modules.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Negative present

Works better than the original

Finally installed. Had to replace my old 6al box (according to MSD when I sent it in for repair it was beyond repair). Same cable set. Seems to run much smoother than my previous box. Haven't driven the car yet. I'll give it the finishing touches before it's roadworthy again. I know MSD says fuses are not needed. But as this is my third box in 15 years (because it blew) I added a built in fuse for extra security.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Negative experience

Fantastic performance

I installed this on an older 95 LT1 v8, it really helped increase spark and the car runs well. Please note this was not a standard motor. It has a large cam, ported heads and distributors. One more note. I also have an MSD coil but still use the standard Opti-Spark distributor. One thing that makes a big difference is using the correct oil seal on the distributor. Once I finally installed the correct oil seal, which looks like a stock oil seal, all the problems with the Opti Spark went away…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as bold as other options

Quality Duraspark ignition upgrade for my 1988 Jeep YJ Wrangler 4.2L

Quality Duraspark ignition upgrade for my 1988 Jeep YJ Wrangler 4.2L. Many YJ owners use the HEI distributor but I preferred to keep my original Duraspark distributor and go for the Digital 6AL MSD Ignition as it offers a much better quality with more features and benefits. Some of these are multiple sparks, built in adjustable rev limiter, powerful spark at higher revs, lower starting voltage and additional features like the ability to add a variable timing module later if you need to slow…

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • old
