Works great!: Point of Sale (POS) Gear

If you're unfortunate enough to use Quickbooks, this little item could save you about $600. QB does not provide credit card readers, except for use on a phone or tablet. If you use a computer, they charge a lot for it, and this inexpensive card reader works just as well. Worked when I first plugged it in.

Works with Mindbody

Bought as an extra swiper for Mindbody. It works well and goes well with Mindbody. The only thing stopping me from giving it 5 stars is that the magnetic reader is only on one side of the reader so you have to be sure to swipe the magnetic stripe like a light from the opposite side. Not that big of a problem and easily overcome, but if I were to buy another one I would buy one with a reader on either side.

Exactly as advertised

We have now purchased six of these small units. They are essentially plug and play and connect directly to the financial website we do business with. We switched from using an iPad (with card readers attached) to using a dedicated website. We have used them for several events and will continue to do so. If we switch financial services, we will only switch to providers that can/would allow the use of these devices. We haven't had any crashes since first using it on 11/17. This review was postedโ€ฆ

Works great and will definitely buy again!

Works great and does what it is designed to do. I bought a couple of $50 USB card readers from another vendor, the $50 card readers are a little better built, with heavier plastic and stronger cable. They also allow you to swipe the map in any direction. But to save money, this one reads credit cards perfectly every time. It's really plug and play. I will definitely buy again. Upon purchase, I received an email with a link to additional documentation, including programming information. It'sโ€ฆ

Works well, take your time

I needed a cheap magnetic stripe reader and decided to try this one. It reads three tracks and I recommend downloading the manufacturer's setup utility if you need to make any changes. In my case all I had to do was read track 2 and remove the prefix and suffix characters, which I was able to do with the utility. My concern is that you need to make sure the card is fully inserted and you're keeping contact with the bottom of the slot when reading, otherwise you might lose characters. I know itโ€ฆ

Doesn't work with 2-track cards

Start early: Don't know the technical difference between 2-track and 3-track track magnetic stripe for cards . However, I know that this reader did not work with the EBT cards that we issue in our office. The old card reader we have is listed as 2 lane so I'm assuming our cards are 2 lane and not compatible with a 3 lane reader. Please correct me if I'm wrong. This does not mean that the reader does not work at all. He will read the numbers; however, it also put a semicolon in front of theโ€ฆ

works as advertised

This is a simple product that does exactly what it says on the tin. The information on the magnetic stripe of a stolen card is entered into your computer just as you would type it on a keyboard. Works out of the box, nothing special required. If you were to enter information based on this, you would need to make sure the computer was ready to accept numbers before swiping the card. for example, positioning the cursor in a credit card number field on the screen. By default, it sends all trackโ€ฆ
