Might be good for softer materials, but not hard SS.

Purchased to drill a 1mm diameter hole in a 1/10" stainless steel rod that already has a 0.5mm pilot hole. I used oil and avoided heat build-up. We tried different speeds but after three bits I gave up. This may work for softer materials, but not for hard SS.

Bought these for a project my daughter is working on with epoxy. I liked that they are quite sharp and grab the material quickly. For the price, you can't complain every time they break something. I can't comment on how well they work on metal because I haven't used them yet. I will update the review as soon as I do. They work great with wood and epoxy.

It looks like it's made of jello instead of high-speed steel

I had a hard time drilling a 1/16" brass plate. I had to go through 3 drill bits to make it 1/16". I may have used the wrong lubricant or feed rate. But others Drill bits I've used with a similar technique seem to work well.Then I started using a dull drill bit as an engraving tool.I sharpened the shank at a right angle,put it in a vise and tried again with a soft brass sheet engrave. Don't go. Looking at the cutting edge under a microscope, the cutting edge is bent back. I hope I just have a…
