Good pastels to draw on

Excellent pastels to work with. Very lightfast and easy to apply. Arrived a little wrinkled but packaged very well. Here you get more than you pay for. Don't be fooled by negative reviews. The only downside is that they are short. But you don't have to apply a lot to get the rich tones you might be looking for. They are high quality and the company shipped them quickly. However, none of them broke - this is pastel, and pastel tends to crack! Be warned about this. Pastel is meant to be broken…

Great Starter Kit - Drawing Tools

Well I haven't used chalk pastels just fine Faber Castell Pitt pastels and wanted to try a few before investing in an expensive brand. Although this set comes in a variety of colors, they are very small - about 1 inch long - and a bit difficult to hold. This prevents me from scratching something straight on the paper and smearing it with a cotton swab. To do this you have to rub them with a folded cotton swab and rub the little pastel up and down to get the color on the cotton to transfer it to

but the pigment is amazing. I don't paint with these

My pastels arrived intact and very well packaged. Inside the box was a case with foam pads (see photo). These pastels are very small but the pigment is amazing. I don't paint with them; I actually use them to decorate a chalkboard each week to keep track of my pregnancy (see pic). You'll be great for this because regular chalk only comes in a few boring colors. I also have Pro Art Chalk Pastels which I've been using for a few weeks now and really like. These are actually the pastels I used to…

Great starter set and great price!

I received them today. I drew them on black paper and partly painted them on white watercolor paper (Fabriano Studio, 25% cotton, 140 lbs, cold pressed - student quality). I post a photo of the partial painting. I have a few Pan pastels which I love and a large selection of Prismacolors Nupastels which are considered hard pastels. I realized I needed softer pastels but didn't want to invest a lot of money until I was sure I was going to use them. I also have a few Rembrandt pastels which are…

  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

If you're just starting out with pastels and are trying to save money, forget it. They are NOT an economical alternative. Too small, too hard and too many bright colors. Not even remotely of artistic quality as some reviews claim. I didn't expect them to be like this given the price, but too many reviews give them high marks for quality without mentioning the downsides. They are so small that they would be difficult to use under normal conditions. hand size. Seriously, they're 1 inch long (2.7…
