Simple and effective way to connect stair railings

They come highly recommended if you are looking for a simple, effective and professional looking railing connection. There are a few complaints about the square head screw, but they really won't be a problem if you use the right bit.

Exactly as advertised

I ordered a total of 6 pieces. You look good. They serve their purpose and are easy to install. I've had many comments about how good they look on my stairs. For me, at least, it's better than hammering my nails in and hoping I can get the nails or screws in all the way in.

Pros
  • Everything is great!
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

Great connector, bad screws

The connectors are strong and make the handrail attachment very smooth. Would buy again. The supplied square head screws are scrap. They kept picking up whenever I tried to use them. After the first plug I switched to standard deck screws and everything worked.

Great connectors, very lousy screws

Railing connectors are great. The screws that come with it are junk. Even if you pre-drill pilot holes, these screws break very easily. Make your life easier and rest assured that these connectors don't come with screws. Ditch the included screws and get good screws. You'll be a lot happier and installation will be a lot quicker than messing around with the included screws.

Deck Rail Connectors

Overall I really like the Rail Connectors; The screws that hold the plugs in place wouldn't be my first choice though. The coloring was good, but the square head screws didn't drive well into the wood. In fact, I had constant problems with them trying to "unclothe" themselves during insertion. Alternatively, I found a black outer surface screw that could be used to solve an issue I was having with the screws provided. In addition, a special bit (included in the kit) was installed on…

Nice little railing connector at a good price.

These little connectors saved me a lot of time building my deck. My wife wanted a specific type of balustrade from a major hardware store and the railing connectors were very expensive. I looked around a bit and came across these little gems. Everyone was complaining about the screws so I went out and bought a pack of NEW #2 square drive bits. I had absolutely no trouble turning any of the screws. I think most people don't change their driver bits often enough, which leads to head slip and…

They are worth the added value

I was debating whether to spend the extra money on this or just mount the rail outside of the posts. I'm SO HAPPY I went with them. Absolutely worth the extra price. They allow you to install the rail BETWEEN the posts and not flush from the outside. Cleaner look, IMHO. And depending on your viewing angles, this may be necessary. They are made of high quality plastic that will never corrode or break. You would have a hard time breaking them if you tried. The screws that come with it are good…
