No problems with the lid

I almost bought this tiny cute animal cage because of the lid reviews. My guess is that the lid is only a problem when the baby is running and jumping with the cage. I can't understand why so many more people are having trouble with the lid. I don't have a problem with the lid, but neither do we walk or confuse the bug cage, especially when it's busy. So buy according to how your child plays. We are currently hosting a woolly bear caterpillar. The cage is small so I wouldn't make it a permanent

Suitable for large bugs but not for eating

This is a great habitat for large creatures and bugs. It's strong and sturdy, but if you need to feed fruit flies or other small bugs, they'll crawl out through the holes. We got this for a baby mantis that has worked great as it has outgrown its smaller habitat. We were glad to move on to this palace, but after seeding the wingless fruit flies we quickly found that the air holes at the top and possibly elsewhere were large enough to let them out. The once perfect mantis palace has turned intoโ€ฆ

You have to secure the lid somehow

This is really cool and just what we wanted and would have given five stars except for one major downside: the lid doesn't have a mechanism to attach it to the box to fix. It doesn't snap and doesn't have a lid to keep it in place, which is a must for a crate meant for animals that kids might want to bring inside to show and show off to family. Since the lid isn't secure, my son can't bring anything into the house with it, which defeats the purpose. (and no, we don't catch critters and holdโ€ฆ

Nice gift though. on Science Kits & Toys

This item was much smaller than my daughter expected. It's well made with a magnifying circle at the top to get a close look inside your creature scales and a separate circular removable lid to place food inside. There's also a cool lighting feature that can be turned on and off and a barn carry handle. It is very small but just the right size for small children to ride and carry around. The only thing I don't like is the missing cap. The lid comes off too easily. For that reason, and thatโ€ฆ

Bug Catching Science Kits & Toys

I ordered this for my 6 year old son who is now obsessed with Rolly Polly. Well, other errors. At first I gave him one of my good Mason jars but he ended up dropping it and breaking it. So I wanted something safer for him. I came through this box full of living beings with light. Unfortunately, his little sister took over before he could try. Yes, it's true that the tip doesn't hold up well. But that's probably so that you can quickly let go of anything you've ever caught. Anyway, she took itโ€ฆ

Insects escape and handles/lids are loose

My kids love learning about bugs and I'm glad spiders are breaking the stereotype of evil spiders. I managed to catch a few house spiders and we kept them in glass mason jars but I was glad to get these keepers because they have light and I could easily add the bugs and the kids could enjoy the feast. . Well, I placed two house spiders (a parish spider and a house spider. Neither spider is very big or tiny, and they were significantly larger than all the small holes in this animal shed. Bothโ€ฆ
