I almost bought this tiny cute animal cage because of the lid reviews. My guess is that the lid is only a problem when the baby is running and jumping with the cage. I can't understand why so many more people are having trouble with the lid. I don't have a problem with the lid, but neither do we walk or confuse the bug cage, especially when it's busy. This is a great habitat for large creatures and bugs. It's strong and sturdy, but if you need to feed fruit flies or other small bugs, they'll crawl out through the holes. We got this for a baby mantis that has worked great as it has outgrown its smaller habitat. It's well made with a magnifying circle at the top to get a close look inside your creature scales and a separate circular removable lid to place food inside.
