Is the battery dead after a year? Difficult to turn on

I've had a hard time getting them to turn on to program them. About a year after the first battery was installed I wanted to reprogram it for a different country and couldn't get it to turn on. We have two. I'm not sure of their long-term viability/reliability, but I expect new batteries to last at least two years between replacements.

Happy diving! best in water sports

Nautilus GPS is one of the best options for scuba diving in remote locations today. Divers around the world know that there are certain dive sites in the world with very specific current and wave characteristics. Malpelo Island in Colombia is one such place. With an unparalleled wealth and variety of fish, the island's waters are also known for strong ocean currents. This is where the Nautilus GPS comes in, offering the necessary security element to fully enjoy this beautiful place.

Bought 3 pieces, filled out all 3 pieces and now a paperweight

So far I've gone through 3 pieces. 1 unit took 130 feet 45 minutes of submersion and was sunk. 1 unit is designed for 3 dives and 1 unit for 6 dives. Only 30 feet of water. That's a lot of money left with nothing. I read a review about them not working as intended underwater. Well this made me laugh, nowhere says what to use underwater. You walk on the surface, say, when you're stranded. I dive a lot alone or with 1 person. Twice I was far from the boat and if the current had been strong it…

There is a lot of conflicting information here - be careful!

Okay, technically FORGET IT if you're buying it to use in diving. GPS signals penetrate only a few MILLIMETERS (a dime thick) into the water. GPS does NOT work underwater. Why they advertise "waterproof to 425 feet with the lid closed" is beyond me, as not only does opening the lid instantly end that "depth rating," it actually doesn't work underwater at all! For this reason, GPS is still elusive for divers, as most "futuristic" "diving GPS" designs rely on a boat-mounted relay that uses…

Simple and reliable.

I have dived to 50m (165ft) with it over 200 times but usually in the range of 15-30m. Fresh water I think it's a good investment. Luckily I didn't have to use it in an emergency; However, while setting up and ramping up the test facility in a Southeast Asian country, a search and rescue helicopter went off course and flew over my house, clearly seeing my beacon pinging its AIS or DSC. With a high quality, high dSMB that's just under half the price of Lifeline, why not have it in your BC or…
