A pleasure to install, configure and use.

Unlike the previous 50% more expensive and very highly rated WAP product (I won't name the manufacturer) that I just bought and returned after an hour of catastrophic SW brain damage, this unit does the trick from NETGEAR is top notch. I have no idea how another vendor could turn the WAP admin GUI into a completely unreasonably brilliant and corrupt science project, but they did it. Installing on Windows 10 is very tedious. You need to download a specific version of jave and not. The…

Terrible product Best in Network products

I bought this for my Home Office + Home Automation setup. My basic needs were multiple WiFi SSIDs and VLANs for each SSID. I've always used Netgear by default for my home network (switches, routers, cable modem). Imagine my surprise when I started setting up the WAC510 Access Point. The web management interface was terribly slow. Think 1-2 minutes to load the first page! Additionally, the device was driving me nuts not being able to figure out how to handle a DHCP IP address when the VLAN is…

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.

A good alternative to the Ubiquity Unifi range

WiFi hotspot works great. It's a good alternative to the Unif range that's in the same price and feature range, but without having to run a controller anywhere to play around with, as everything is cloud-based. The licenses are about $9 per year, but I think it's worth it with the support I got for it when I had a question about POE and VLAN performance. I got a few 2 cents to connect to a Technicolor modem/router combo box from my Spectrum ISP. Requires at least 15W of power over POE to…

The first one died on me

I've been using Netgear switches for over a dozen years. They've always been solid and reliable, although the web interface has always been a bit clunky. This is the first Netgear WAP I tried. I usually have U brand WAP. In my experience these things are superior to anything I've tried if you have some knowledge of network management. But I needed another WAP for an additional subnet, so I decided to save some money and get this one. First, the Insight interface is terribly slow, so I gave up…

Great product Best in Computers & Accessories

I think it's a great product. If I were to do it again, I'd probably go with the WAC505 because the AP's specs are similar and it's cheaper, presumably mostly due to the lack of router capability. However, I am glad that the WAC510 works as an access point. One more comment - I've seen complaints that this product doesn't include an external power supply. But if your other devices support PoE, that's great. One less cord to tangle, one less outlet to find an outlet for. Even if you don't have…
