Description of 🔌 NGK (55004) RC-FX101 High Performance Spark Plug Wire Set

Set includes 4 wires (Coil Lead N/R). Variable pitch winding delivers ultra-low resistance, a powerful spark and outstanding EMI/RFI noise suppression. Numbered for easy cylinder identification and coil wires are color coded for correct and easy installation. Positive-locking, corrosion-resistant stainless steel terminal ends for tight fit and maximum resistance to vibration and separation. High-temp (250°+ C / 482°+ F) silicone outer jacket resists moisture, oil/petrol and cracking due to temperature extremes.

Bug fixed on my 2008 Impreza!

Purchased for my 2008 Subaru Impreza 2.5i (EJ253) [NO Turbo]. My car had problems with misfires on cylinders 3 and 4 (both cylinders closest to the firewall/rear end). They fixed it with a new set of Iridium NGK spark plugs. Very easy to install. Cylinders 2 and 4 are a bit difficult to connect to the ignition coil. If you have a few small hands it will be a lot easier for you to get in there and hook up the old one. There are no problems connecting new ones. Remember to connect #4 first as it…

Didn't fit! Best Wires

From the outside these wires appear to be identical (except the blue) to the wires that came from my 2006 Subaru Outback 2.5i and I've always been a big fan of NGK ones and NTK products. The Revain, NGK and supplier catalogs confirm that I have purchased the correct part number [NGK (55004) RC-FX101 Spark Plug Wire Set] for my application. HOWEVER, the metal electrical connector in the NGK spark plug boot is located much closer to the tip of the plug and makes contact with the spark plug well…

Not like before

I used the exact same model NGK RC FX-101; 55004 wires have been installed in the past and they have worked great on my 2009 Subaru Legacy Non-Turbo; Ordered again after 2 years, the same cables come, but the trunk connector where it connects to the coil is different. It's shorter, doesn't fit properly and slips right off the bobbin pack, couldn't get those second pairs to snap. Tried my old wires and they clicked right in; so the new wires are changed. This is a good product but disappointing…

Oh. so so! Fitmemt is really not that good.

Well maybe I'll send them back, I'll keep you posted. The quality of the parts looks good, but the fit leaves a lot to be desired. They definitely don't fit as well and tightly as "OEM" wires and can't use electrical lube as they'll pop out of the spool instantly. Then the ends that connect to the head and down the spark plug chamber don't really match. I'll keep you posted but unfortunately I've seen better (if only) it's just the set I have that isn't as good. Another thing to note is that…

So far, so good. The problem is that the pen is used for.

Availability My 2005 Forester X was having misfires and apparent problems with uneven shifting. I have used these leads with a new Standard Motor Products UF-538 coil and new Revain NGK FR5AP-11 connectors and the problem was completely resolved. So far, so good. The problem is that the pin used to mating with the coil is not very tight and is also on the short side and of course there is no 'click' when mating. I first tried applying dielectric grease to the coil case (DO NOT DO THAT) and the…

Excellent replacement for wires, be careful with dielectric grease.

Fits 2008 Subaru Legacy 2.5i. I didn't particularly check the resistance/impedance, but I drove about 10,000 km and between these cables and a set of NGK FR5AP-11 spark plugs, the engine began to start and idle more smoothly, noticeably smoother shifts (automatic transmission). stronger acceleration etc. My #4 spark plug was badly worn and causing random misfires and that was maybe the only problem but my car had 198k when I did it and the wires were never changed so I thought they replaced…

Good quality wiring harness

My Subaru (2008 Outback 2.5i 4 cyl non turbo) had a 4 cyl. misfire. (spark plugs changed 10,000 km ago) and the problem was solved. This time after replacing the wires (and spark plugs) with a different ProStart kit, I had misfires on 2 and 4. Thinking the ignition coil was bad, I put a new one in. The problem persisted but luckily I bought this cable set when I ordered the coil. I replaced the new ProStarts with NGK FX101 and they work great now. As you can see from the photos, the NGK kit is…

Not good for an '05 Impreza - the spool setting is terrible.

2005 Impreza RS wagon (non-turbo) I should have heeded the warnings in the reviews - these boots are too long and the metal pins sitting inside the coil pack are for one good seat too far away. I pressed on the new plugs and the boot slowly slipped off because it wasn't part of the OEM coil pack. Immediately after the installation I had quite strong dropouts on 1 and 3 - very bad. I figured it was plugs making good contact - I just removed those wires and plugged in the nasty looking factory…

Pros
  • Easy to use
Cons
  • I have no ill will, everything is fine
