Good Power Mic - Pro Video Accessory

Works great with my DSLR. The mount is quiet and the controls on the mic allow me to adjust the audio to match what I'm shooting. It's like a mini dumbbell that you attach to your camera. filters out background noise well and is very easy to use. good value for money. i would buy again

Pros
  • Quality Construction

  • Great Price

Great value for money, good for camera and photo

Original review 7 December 2020 We have two digital cameras. When we use them to record video, the audio from a camera without an external microphone simply cannot match another camera with an external microphone. I've never been able to merge video files from two cameras. Adding this new microphone helps us solve this problem. Now the audio from both cameras is about the same. I like the design of this mic, it's shorter than my other one. It also requires AAA batteries, not special coin-sized…

  • Great for small home

No complaints about the price

$25 Microphones have gotten MUCH better over the last few years. I've used this on my A6400 and have found a few cases where it doesn't work. In most cases, it's a significant improvement over internal mics (although you do lose stereo imaging). The only negative I have to say about this $25 is the "anti-vibration" mount. This can dampen some vibrations, but I've found that it amplifies the vibration noise caused by moving my camera (still mounted on a tripod). It should ideally be some rubber…

  • High marks for support and durability from testers

Good news! for accessories

The good news is that this microphone does its job well. To "know" that, I compared it to the Rode Videomic Pro Plus, which sells for around $300. In terms of features, Rode has a lot more bells and whistles. It can be turned on and off automatically and has a professional vibration isolation system. It has filters and signal modifiers. It's also a "distinctive" brand of microphones. This mic doesn't even have a brand name on the product. That's not to say it's bad, but it does suggest a "no…

Excellent sound quality, slightly thin mounting

This is an active microphone and therefore it runs on 2 AAA batteries. The benefit of such an amplified microphone is that it can mitigate the background noise created when your camera's internal amplifier loads the signal from passive microphones. Remember to turn off the device after use, otherwise the batteries in your gear bag will be discharged. When the switch was in the "on" position, the sound quality was good, with no obvious hiss. When using the 10dB attenuator, you can expect very…

Easy to use, good upgrade from built-in mics

This active cardioid microphone has a 1" polar pattern and a number of nice features for such a basic mic as inexpensive. Plugs directly into most modern cameras hook it up, I use it with an old Canon Rebel and it's great. There is a power switch with a 10dB cutoff for very noisy environments to reduce clipping. The other switch has a high pass crossover switch to cut low frequency noise This mic is relatively directional and will generally pick up whichever subject you're best aiming at. There…

  • An absolute legend

Good quality microphone. Great price

I have a few YouTube channels and blog on both. I have several on-camera mics, like the Movo VXR-10, which has been my main vlogging mic so far. I'm a professional photographer, mostly (pun intended) professional sports, but like I said above, I also do videos. I'm a Canon guy too and Canon audio preamps are notoriously not the best. The VXR-10 does not have a preamp and the sound can be a bit harsh. But the Nicama SGM5 has it, and it's very important. Requires battery power (included). Unlike…

  • Crumpled packaging

Impressive quality at an unbeatable price

In the world of on-camera microphones, few names stand out. Rode, Shure and Sennheiser are probably in the lead. Over the years of working with video I have chosen microphones from well-known brands with the expectation that the quality of the sound output will be accurately captured and recorded. And we've relied on it to get the job done for years. to their credit, they did it. By price. My cheapest on-camera mic was around $100 and my daily driver (Shure LensHopper) was around $170. While…
