Type of review

As a normal lens, it's quite practical; the image it produces is clear and undistorted. When compared to my old AF-S 18-55, this lens's stabilizer is a huge improvement. I use it to take handheld nighttime shots at slow shutter rates, and I couldn't be happier with my purchase.

Pros
  • Excellent sharpness, swift and silent autofocus, and a sturdy frame.
Cons
  • Not in my opinion.

Excellent basic lens

Excellent basic lens. It doesn't have much zoom, but that's because it's relatively compact. For some reason the camera body often tells me the lens is not attached, even when it is attached and working. I don't know if the lens or the camera body is to blame. I've learned to just ignore the error message. My only real complaint is that it doesn't have the right focal length for great macros.

I wanted him to care more about shooting than trying to zoom with his feet or switching to other lenses in his bag. This is a great lens if you have enough light to dim it a bit and can blur the background due to its ability to focus up close. He had a lot of cool shots where he could focus close to the…

Works perfectly!

I bought this lens to replace the lens that came with my camera which was a slightly older version of the same model. I encountered the same problem as some other users with this lens, which is that the camera sometimes shows "No lens attached" even though the lens is attached. well attached. This lens has a small knob on the side that allows it to be retracted to a "closed" position. If you press the button and rotate the lens from this position, your camera will register that the lens is…
