The only lens I take with me on a hike.

This is the optimal range for a zoom lens in my opinion; 28mm wide-angle to 105mm portrait. The image is sharp and works great with my D7100. The lens has a macro function (which I haven't tried yet) and a 62mm filter size.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Annoyed

Very good lens in Camera lenses

I bought this used lens (because it's no longer available) to replace a similar one I had but was damaged. I received it on time and it looked spotless as advertised. I haven't used it for a long time, but it works smoothly, I'm very satisfied.

Pros
  • I'm holding my fists
Cons
  • I'm worried

This is theft. in Camera Lenses

I just wish it was 18mm instead of 28mm. I find it sharp throughout the zoom range. It has a macro feature which I haven't tried yet. Will give five stars for the FX setup, like a converting lens. I bought this expecting to buy a D600 but changed my mind as prices have never dropped low enough for me to make up my mind. If you have a DX lens, many go for the 18-105mm DX lens. Despite some mostly undeserved and unfounded criticism, this is the perfect lens for any DX camera.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Incredibly versatile versatile lens!

The 28-105 f/3.5-4.5D is an excellent all-round lens. It's desirable to use with a full-frame camera, but it also works well with a Dx body. The 3.75x zoom range is sufficient for most situations and the additional 1:2 macro capability makes this lens exceptionally valuable. Not to mention that it's incredibly sharp at all available apertures. For field work I carry 17-35, 28-70 and 70-200 lenses (all f/2.8) but for easy hanging of the lens I use 28-105 f/3.5. . . . . bgs.

Old Nikon lens but still a real gem

This lens may be an old Nikon lens but it still works very well and so far we have been very happy with its performance. I'll be taking it on a trip soon and hope to get some great full frame photos from it while it's attached to my D700. The autofocus works well, but only if you have a compatible camera with its own autofocus motor, such as the B. my D700, since the lens natively has none. The macro feature takes a bit of getting used to at first, as it requires a few steps to enable, butโ€ฆ

  • Weight

The focal length range of this lens is ideal for a travel lens. It has a slight distortion. It's sharp for a consumer-grade zoom lens. However, this is not a lens that can be attached to a high-resolution camera like the Nikon D810 to show the camera or do a big zoom. I took this lens with me on a recent holiday with a 50mm f1.4 prime lens for my D810 and the shots captured with the 50mm lens are much sharper from corner to corner. If you're just viewing images on a computer screen or limitingโ€ฆ

Very good general purpose lens

This lens is a real find, I use it on my Nikon d750. The aperture ring must be set to f22 to avoid an error message. I was hoping to set the aperture with the aperture ring, but for some reason newer Nikon cameras require you to control aperture with the camera. The lens is sharp and the autofocus seems to work well provided it's not too dark (not the best in low light). To focus the lens manually, the camera must be set to manual focus mode. When I first got this lens, the photos were softโ€ฆ
