one of the best lenses

Image reproduction is fantastic. I think Nikon lenses that were developed back then are much better than newer products. Cost reductions and high executive salaries have destroyed all quality. Nikon tends to add LCD and other fancy stuff to the lens that doesn't improve the image quality of the S-Line lenses. More expensive parts will shrink in the new design - that's very sad.

  • Decent performance

Fantastic, beast!

It's a beast, big but the fastest focusing lens I have, very sharp and very handy. Professional quality means exactly that with a metal hood. The D7000 dx I use it on and the lens weighs exactly 4 pounds so you'll need to flex your muscles, but the sharpness from shots taken with a sizable hold is amazing. There's a more modern version of this lens, but that's the real deal, the quality.

The lens was defective

I bought this lens with full understanding that it is both a used and older model. The lens had clearly been dropped by the previous owner when it arrived, but it seemed to work well enough. However, almost immediately we noticed that every photo taken with the lens was very cloudy, blurry and out of focus. The quality was so poor that even a 4x6 print made under optimal conditions was practically unusable. I attributed it to user error, thinking maybe I wasn't gripping my hand tight enough or…

I am very happy! for camera lenses

For a used lens it was very profitable. A little heavy, but you get used to it. I used this lens for Fancon cosplay photography. This is really fast glass and the images are beautiful. I had some lens creaking which doesn't bother me considering the lens I received is about 10 years old but the previous owner took good care of it. There are some signs of wear, especially on the lens hood, but the lens is fully functional. The felt lined hard shell box looks great! I would not use this lens as a

Fantastic when it works

When it works as it should, the Nikon 2.8 28-70mm is a great lens. I was amazed at the picture quality when I first took it out. I took it to the farm pizzeria to try it out and got some amazing shots at the farm during the golden hour. The lens is heavy, but that never really bothered me. Sometimes I wish I had 4mm more as 28 is a boring wide angle, but it's functional and meets my low light needs as a business owner. Like the standard 24-70mm, this is a great all-around lens. What matters is…

Beautiful lens monster

Looks monstrous, but don't let that scare you. If like me you can't decide between that old mid-range zoom and the newer 24-70 f/2.8 then let me tell you about it. I've heard complaints that it's too heavy. It's only slightly heavier than 24-70. And I mean very little. If you can't handle a few more ounces, 24-70 is too heavy for you. Don't be a little girl because of the weight. It's shorter than 24-70 but thicker (is that a word?). I think it looks really cool. I also like that it has an…
