Artist lens best of lenses

I use the pre-macro version of this lens. I've owned it for about a year and have never parted with it. I recently bought a Macro version (newer) to add to my collection. This is not the cheap plastic lens found in most modern mirrors. This is a heavy, high-quality lens that can produce interesting shots. Not only is the donut bokeh unique, it also has a slightly barrel-like effect when shooting full frame. I didn't notice it that much with the crop sensor, but it can be seen in the pictures on

Nikon Reflex 500mm F8 N

This is one of the sharpest 500mm F8 Reflex lenses I've ever used, aside from my Nikon 500mm F4 VR2 AF-S. It's fast and bright when focusing on the Nikon D3S and Nikon D300s. Its donut background gives me a different feel and approach in a more artistic way than what many pros call "dirty background". Optical telephoto lens. Poor man's lens 500mm

SLR lens is a good lens, mostly the poor man's 500mm lens. It's all manual focus and exposure. I usually use it with Nikon TC-14A to multiply Nikkor by 1.4 to 700mm. The 500mm SLR will never be as good as the AF-S 500mm f/4. But it works well when used properly. Donuts or rings as a background can be used well if the background is carefully designed. Reflex 500mm is inexpensive and lightweight. It takes a little more effort to manually focus and set the exposure. You definitely need good light…

I love it. Proven sharpness

Recently bought an old "C" version of this lens. They say "It's not as sharp as 'N', the later version. I use it on Sony mirrorless cameras. I like it. I tested the sharpness by putting "C" on a tripod and a I used a promotional flyer as a test subject, about 16 meters away. Then I took another exposure with a Nikkor 50mm f1.8 at f8 and ISO 400. I chose a letter on the flyer to focus both lenses on and shot the flyer the same size for both exposures. and the two images compared 100%. It's hard…
