Worthy alternative to Joycon

Bought a pair of these to play Monster Hunter Rise in handheld mode while my joycons were in the store. Sticks and buttons are durable. The lack of any force feedback (not even the basic DualShock-style light/heavy rumble) is a little odd, but it's better than not playing at all. They also don't have a gyroscope function; I thought the main body of the Switch tablet should also have a gyro, but either I'm wrong or games just ignore it in favor of controller gyros. Ergonomics are good, noโ€ฆ

Worth every penny if you play a lot of Animal Crossing!

These controllers are amazing. I mostly just play Animal Crossing, the turbo button makes the game much easier and more fun. I use the turbo to quickly press A when diving, bumping into rocks, crafting some furniture or tools. I wish these controllers could read amiibo because I often invite amiibo villagers. But my workaround is to use a pro controller. Speaking of pro controllers, if you have a Nintendo pro controller and like the feel, I'd say this one feels pretty much the same. It makes me

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • Not sure

I bought these for my husband to test as we spent a lot of money to replace the Joy Cons switch due to drifting. Every set we buy starts to drift within a month or two. I saw them and decided he should try them. So far no drifting after almost a month. Advantages: no drift. Price compared to two disadvantages of joy. Cons: Doesn't support amiibo. Doesn't vibrate. There's no motion sensor and it doesn't fit in the controller converter, which is a joy. Overall, Nintendo could do better and Iโ€ฆ

Thick but not uncomfortable.

These light fat guys can be installed on Switch in place of regular Joy-Cons and they are amazing. They feel like mating halves of a full-size controller, with a nice grippy back that has a rough texture but isn't as annoyingly sticky as rubber backs or sleeves. Get a tote bag that you can put everything in without taking it apart. Now for the issues that may or may not arise depending on the user: These things don't have their own batteries, so they can't work unless they're plugged into theโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Can't remember

Overall this would be a good controller if there weren't some pretty big drawbacks. In this review I will focus on the cons as they really overshadow the overall user experience. Sorted from worst to least bad: - Where the plastic case connects, there's a seam that meets the underside of your palm, right where a lot of the contacts are. It hurts a lot after a few minutes. This is a major design flaw that is very noticeable and I don't understand how the designers approved the controller in this

Pros
  • Sturdy build
Cons
  • Definitely a bad product

Ideal for use, no cramps from faster battery drain.

Edit: Updated to four stars. For reference, SPP will be my shorthand for Split Pad Pro until the end of this review. In terms of use, they are great. I know what I got in terms of Joy-Cons changes (no gyroscope, no battery, no amiibo compatibility, no rumble) when I bought SPP. I think it's a bit silly to look at docking sprocket reviews for this reason as stated on the bottom. The bottom half of the railing slides easily enough past the dpad on the left controller/joystick on the right, itโ€ฆ

Great for big hands! Liked the turbo buttons.

I love my Switch but they made it even better. I don't like the controllers that come standard with the Switch, mostly because they're tiny in my hands. I don't find my hands that big, but I always worry about dropping this thing. The Hori Switch panel pops up and bam these things are huge! They take a bit of getting used to because they make the Switch feel very long, but oddly, it feels great like I'm holding and reading a newspaper, and it fits nicely in my lap. The turbo buttons help, while

If you have problems with Joy-Cons, this is for you

I've seen a few complaints about these controllers and felt compelled to share my experience with them. It's 9/14/20 and I've only had the midnight blue Split Pad Pro (not a good name but it works) for a few days, but so far it's been worth every penny. I've seen reviewers claim that the controllers drain the battery HUGE which is actually not true. It's noticeable, but yes. The Joy-Cons have their own battery while the SPP doesn't, so it uses the Switch's battery a bit more. I suppose for some
