I want to give it four stars because it doesn't always fully bounce; But it was such a great purchase that I can't help but give it five stars. Our dog has a lot of energy so it's great to let loose when no one is around, but when I need him under control he's right there. If your dog is very bad at pulling, this may not be for you. We got very wet, sandy, muddy etc and it still works great. If it doesn't recline all the way, I just give it a little squeeze and it goes.

Select this. The best product I have ever bought for my dog. It's been a few months and I'm very happy. Makes running MUCH easier. Also great for camping. Also very handy for those inevitable encounters with dogs when an excited puppy approaches them and the leash gets tangled. I was able to just let go of the leash and the leash slid back into the collar with no fuss. My dog still occasionally pulls on the leash and this collar handles that with no problem. Great concept for hiking when you only need to use the leash for a short time. But very poor performance. The nylon sheath snags on the cord attachment the entire time, limiting the length to about a foot until you stop and fiddle with it for a while to loosen the plastic that the cord's wrist strap attaches to. This is great for our dog. We walk our dog and he literally stays with us the whole time. I wanted to try the leash but wanted to be able to grab it if needed. It acts like a collar and I can pull the leash out and it retracts easily. It makes a "tumbling" noise when rolling back, which initially startled our dog, but he got used to it.
