The Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 SUV Scandinavian-type studless winter tire is designed specifically for SUVs. Grip on slippery surfaces is improved by the Cryo Crystal 3 concept, a central stiff rib gives stability at high speeds, and pump sipes reduce the risk of aquaplaning.
Heavy-duty aramid fibers added to the sidewall rubber compound provide exceptional wear and tear resistance in external impacts and obstacles.

The winter tire Nokian Hakkapeliitta R3 SUV, like the previous model, is designed for SUV class cars. The operational properties are selected taking into account the road and climatic conditions of the countries of Northern Europe and Russia. They are distinguished by reliable traction properties that remain at extremely low temperatures, increased flotation in snow, fuel efficiency and reliability.
Reinforced sidewallsOne of the features of the tire is the reinforced sidewall construction. Their structure contains aramid fibers. They increase the rigidity and mechanical strength of the sidewalls. In addition, this solution further enhances directional stability during maneuvering and high-speed traffic.
Increased rib in the center The development of the tire was carried out in parallel with the model of the same name for passenger cars. One of the key differences from it is the increased size of the longitudinal rib located in the center of the tread. This decision is dictated by the increased weight and higher center of gravity of SUVs. The enlarged center rib has better resistance to deformation. This increases the stability of the coupling properties, and also facilitates the process of driving the car due to faster and more accurate reactions to the driver''s actions.
Several types of sipesWith no studs, the tire demonstrates confident behavior on icy surfaces. This is largely due to the use of several types of lamellas.
Slots are located in the shoulder zones, which are blocked in the open position in such a way that the mobility of the entire block as a whole is limited. As a result, in addition to the formation of numerous transverse edges, such sipes increase the stability of grip properties, especially during longitudinal accelerations on icy and wet surfaces.
In the central part there are lamellas with a slightly different functionality. These slots contain voids that trap and retain moisture from the road surface. As a result, the contact patch dries up, which improves grip on wet and icy surfaces.

- I took an R3. I went to R2, Viatti and different spikes. (on personal cars - Velcro, working - spikes) r20 Rubber in St. Petersburg 05/11/19. I was driving during a snowstorm in the area of +2, it keeps the road well. I drove 100/120/140 - normal, no difference between summer and winter tires.

- While it is difficult to talk about them, I hope they will not. (I'm ready to add a review later when the weather appears) I took R3 specially - to check what was done new from R2. (maybe just a publicity stunt)

- 1) Relatively gentle 2) Able to maintain an acceptable level of acoustic isolation over the whole speed range up to 190 km/h. 3) Very tenacious for Velcro. 4) Keep a clean car at all times while driving. 5) You should not be terrified of ice, but you should always keep your head on your shoulders.

- Since two weeks ago, I've been wearing shoes with the model number R3 SUV 225/55R19. One week of work on asphalt that is clean at a temperature of -3 to -10. After another week of heavy precipitation, this time in the form of rain and snow, the temperature is going to plummet to -18. On clean asphalt in the summer it is tenacious and soft, on an icy incline from the garage there is no slippage, on city streets in the snow everything is good (tires are cleaned thoroughly), and in the winter there were no problems either. During operation there were no issues. To claim that the rubber is noisy is an inaccurate statement because the tongue will not turn; nonetheless, it seems as though the Pirelli ice zero friction 225/45R19 tires (which I drove for three winters) are a little bit quieter on the pavement. Pirelli, on the other hand, experienced difficulties on porridge and in ice.
