Great tool! Cozy! Too bad I didn't see this many years ago.

So how often do you really need a steamer? If you do, great! Ideal for many pans, non-stick coating. Ideal for melting butter, chocolate, eggs. A relatively inexpensive tool can do it all.

  • Always liked

Perfect for Candy Melts

This is a great product for a kitchen with different sized pans and lots of projects. I have 3 so I can keep washing and turning throughout the work day. I'm in the business of decorating wedding treats and this saved my life! Deep enough to get good heat but don't touch the bottom of the pots. Ideal.

Would recommend to anyone who needs a steamer

I have had this steamer for a little over 5 years and have used it maybe 10 times. It works well and is in good condition. It has some scratches on the top edges from storage but this does not affect use. I've used it with maybe 5 different sized pans and never had any problems. I would recommend to anyone who needs a steamer.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Zero

The non-stick coating is starting to wear off

After 3-4 months of use, the non-stick coating on the bottom started to wear off. I have never put it in the dishwasher or used steel wool. It hasn't affected the interior where the food touches, but I'm pretty sure it will eventually wear out there too. I threw it away. I've never been a fan of nonstick coatings and will buy some nonstick coating again. Correction: Will NOT be buying any more non-stick coating.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

There is no pen. difficult to get out of the pot.

The only thing I don't like about this steamer is that it doesn't have a handle and is too difficult to hold when wearing hot gloves, especially when using it over a large pot. Every time I tried to take it out of the pot, it fell in. I know I could use it on a smaller pot. That doesn't change the fact that it's hard to hold and gets very hot. Although I like its size. Now I will only use for large batches.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Annoying

Chocolate of the moment - pots and pans

Definitely hand wash if you want it to last or not discolour. I usually use one of my Pyrex bowls over the pot, but wanted something that was made for double cooking and wasn't too expensive. Because of the design, I honestly thought it would fold up for easy storage, but it doesn't. my mistake lol Either way it works well and after about 4 uses it seems to be heating up fairly evenly. Hand wash and dry, nothing seems to stick to it, so it's easy to clean.

Pros
  • Like everything right now
Cons
  • Makes me nervous

Uncomfortable to use

So it melts chocolate very well and is easy to clean. I love the versatility of using different sized pots. But. there are no handles and to do anything with it you have to hold it with pot holders on either side. When it came time to pour out the boiling water, I had to ask my husband for help. I held the top with chocolate and it poured out the water. This was important as the item has a rounded base and cannot be placed on a table or counter. You need to plant it in a pot to keep it upright.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Not sure

Versatile and WORKS GREAT with the Cuisinart Electric Fondue Pot

This lightweight, non-stick steamer is super convenient. This is definitely Nordic Ware. But it's immediately worth noting that this is their consumer quality and not their commercial quality. For us and our use, we are excited about this feature. We bought two of these as cheese and chocolate bowls to use with our Cuisinart Electric Fondue Pot. With them we can serve several dishes in our fondue pot without having to empty the pot! We also use these pots (the rim allows for different diameterโ€ฆ

  • So far so good

Great price but could be better

Does the job. I made a batch of fudge with it. The melted chocolate didn't stick or burn like it did when I used the steel bowl as a makeshift steamer. No big claims, but there are some trade-offs to consider. First, there is no "long sleeve" grip. This makes it easier to store/takes up less space, but also requires you to wear an oven mitt when stirring the melted mixture to keep the kettle from spinning in the pot. Second, there is no such thing as flat ground. You have to be very careful orโ€ฆ

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • No paint required
