    The novelty wears out very quickly when it needs cleaning

    It's great as a novelty gift (my dad loved it as soon as he opened it) but it has too many design issues. Basically, it's almost impossible to clean. Also, he doesn't cook hot dogs properly. In most cases it is overcooked on the outside but stays cold on the inside. The only way around this is to cook the hot dogs twice at the lowest temperature. Not much. I gifted it to my dad in December and he has only used it a couple of times since.

    I've had burnt broken buns and the burnt bread sticks to the metal and doesn't pull off very well

    Usually hot dogs are baked three times, they need to be constantly turned and placed in reverse order to ensure they come out evenly will. And buns. I've had burnt, broken buns and the burnt bread sticks to the metal and isn't fun to scrape off. Now I just reheat the buns in the microwave, so the toasted bun isn't worth it. :( I think it could be a great product, I just got a scoop! :(

    This is a great hot dog toaster!

    This hot dog toaster is worth every penny. As other reviewers have said, when you get it, set it to 5 and run it one cycle with no dogs or buns to burn it out, then it's ready to go. I think it helps to flatten the buns a bit so they rest on the heating surface. Also, I like to run it in a loop with dogs and buns, then flip the buns and repeat again. Helps toast buns evenly and keeps dogs warm. Dogs are much tastier when fried than when microwaved or boiled. Cleaning is fairly easy, although…

    Looks good, easy to clean with removable hot dog insert. That's where he fails. The buns will be on fire before the hot dog time runs out. I tried two types of buns, the result is the same on settings 2 and 3. I think settings 4 and 5 will burn the buns to the ground. So it fails to toast the rolls.     I came across a video about this product that was posted by reviewer James. The toaster is bright red, which goes well with my kitchen. That's good because the toaster will always be on my countertop. I've changed the hot dog toasting instructions as suggested by columnist James. I use regular buns from our local market and Ball Park Angus sausages. You flatten the buns a little first, then they brown a little, and not just around the edges.     A very convenient way to prepare hot dogs. Cooking hot dogs isn't advanced math. You don't need a fancy device to heat sausages.     When I saw this product I had to have it. As far as I know, this is the most amazing thing after hot water. Received the next day after ordering. After reading all the negative reviews I could find, here is the approach to using the product. 1) Smokes during the first few uses - I turned the knob to 5 and put it through a cauterization cycle which had nothing.
