Great knife for a beginner or pro chef

I have a very expensive chef's knife that my husband gave me (I think he was hoping I would cook more). I liked it and used it a lot, but since I've had this knife I'd rather use it than any other brand. It feels great in my hand. Sturdy and strong, but not too heavy or flimsy at all! Cuts everything like clockwork! The ease of slicing and dicing is almost too easy! If you're not careful, you can probably cause damage! But wow, that definitely makes slicing fast! This is such a great knife for…

Original: The knife was great for a year when fed about 3 times a week. I went to sharpen it with Okami's sharpening tool and after a few passes the blade started falling apart. Nice knife. Sharp knife. Not a durable knife. Update: Okami took care of the issue by replacing the knife free of charge within 2 days of filing the complaint. They suggested it might have been part of a bad batch. I have rarely experienced better customer service. I look forward to using this knife often, although I…

Outstanding quality and versatility!

This knife is MUCH better! Our family will use the knife until it gets dull like this, so naturally we were desperate for an updated knife. We've had great success with absolutely everything with the Okami Chef's Knife! It comes in its own beautiful storage box and has a protective cover. The knife is very well made and has a certain weight. He carved everything with perfection! It slices meat, cheese, veggies etc with ease. I'm not sure if it's dishwasher safe though, even though it's not sold

I'm a professional chef!

This is my third damask knife! I have two Calphalon Katana knives that I have had for 4 and 6 years, both hold the blade very well and are very durable! As for the Okami, I was nervous because it's a Japanese knife made in China! Let's remember that the Chinese are incredible sword and knife makers too! The knife is beautiful and razor sharp right out of the box! The balance is perfect and the egg-shaped wooden handle feels good in your hand! It's very light, which is perfect if you use the…

Practical + Beautiful = Winning

Looking at the other reviews on this knife I really appreciate how the company took the time to respond to each one. A small thing, but I noticed it. As for the knife itself, I never noticed my other knives were heavy until I used this knife. Its sharpness is deceptive, as it feels a bit dull on an ineffective finger test, but slips through as soon as you start slicing. Tomatoes were of course the first thing I tried :). And its beauty is undeniable; Appearance isn't everything, but if…

I'm new to the Okami brand. I just bought my first a few months ago. Which started my obsession and resulted in me getting this. First of all these knives are fantastic and I love the beautiful Pakka wood handle. I knew I had to cut and cook a lot of holiday meals and it didn't disappoint at all! Cooking is my place in zen, but it shouldn't have been this holiday season. Everyone and their mother kept interrupting me to try my knife. I'm used to Okami's perfectly balanced balance, but they were

Poor customer service when you have a problem

Super sharp! Nice design, but if you need support: FORGET IT! I bought this knife in 2016. In 2019 I noticed that the underside of the knife, which used to have a metal part, was gone. I'm not sure when it felt like. I only noticed a few weeks ago. The knife is great and has a super sharp edge, but I'm a little sad because it doesn't look as pretty as it used to. Also, the tip is broken. The support team explained that a broken tip is normal and that the owner should handle the product very…

Great knife, great price. (Loyal customer!)

First of all, this is my first quality knife. For the last 10 years I have been cooking at home as a hobby and decided it was time to have a professional knife. In my opinion Okami was the best quality for the price and level of prep I do. I did not remain indifferent, this knife is great. It was sharp straight away and perfect after a few passes through the Stein 6000. It took me some time to go through a lot of knives, read reviews, product tests, customer comments and watch youtube videos…
