I bought these garlands for the outside of my patio. I have a timer. Unfortunately with these lights the program resets as soon as the timer turns them off and when the timer turns them back on they don't match the setting I chose. Dropping those lights every day would be a nightmare. Not to mention that I just read that LAMPS are suitable for outdoor use but the CONTROLLER is not. You can't light all fires without a controller, so they ONLY need to be marked INSIDE. upset.

Love these lights. I hung them in a closed unheated entrance. They are much more profitable than tying up a bunch of Christmas lights. An equivalent length of Christmas twine would cost around $80, but since they're LED I don't think they're going to burn out like these little Christmas bulbs. I decorate the bushes in front of my house with these lights. I like the 6 hour on and 18 hour off timer. I especially like option number 8 for the always-on light. My next favorites are #2 and #4. If you use a WiFi socket or other means of switching on and off, you may not need it. I wanted to set the light to turn on a daily timer, and these days most of us use a simple Wi-Fi switch for that. Regardless of how you do it, unless you want your lights to flash like a circus, this can be a huge disappointment to you.
