Faulty Brake Switch Causes Hassle

Based on my observations, this brake light switch is poorly made and unreliable. I've had to replace it twice in less than a year, which is a real hassle. The switch simply isn't durable enough for a performance car.

Pros
  • Inexpensive
Cons
  • Unreliable, Poorly Made

Failed prior to road use.

This switch was leaking between the plastic core and the steel case or maybe between one of the terminals and the plastic core. A few drops dripped onto the floor every night. I have checked very carefully that the threads I have sealed with LOCKTITE thread sealant are not leaking. The leak was somewhere in the plastic section so I had to locally purchase and replace another one. Omix-Ada 17238.01 brake light switch

I don't usually write reviews, but everyone should know that.

I don't usually write reviews but everyone needs to know about this glitch. I bought this for my Jeep because of the female connectors. I was driving a Jeep this weekend and when I slammed on the brakes the plastic/rubber insert burst and I ran out of brakes! Someone could get hurt. When I got back to the garage, I noticed that the metal holding the plastic insert in place wasn't very strong. That's why it exploded. In the future I will only buy brake parts where I can go to where I bought them

Pros
  • Spare parts
Cons
  • Nothing here
