Description of 🚲 OneUp Components Traction Narrow Wide Chainring for 104BCD Cranks

Get ultimate climbing traction. Finally clean those muddy, rooty or loose climbs. Now available in a 30T size using unique countersunk spacers and M5 Torx bolts. Oval rings smooth out the torque delivered to your rear tire reducing spinouts and stalls on tough climbs. Vital-MTB 4.5 Star Review "It’s a fairly inexpensive upgrade, and yes, we’re calling it an upgrade, that actually does make a day on your bike a bit more enjoyable. While it won’t make you an XC god on the climbs, it will help you maintain traction and get up those nasty punches a little bit easier. That, combined with the oval shape effectively widening your gear range, makes the OneUp Traction Ring one of the simplest, most affordable, yet still impactful, upgrades you can make to your ride. Perfect chainline with built in offset for a quieter longer lasting drivetrain and improved chain wear.

Thrust! Boost and more boost!

I love this oval star! There is a big difference between the regular sprocket and this oval sprocket. When climbing, you may feel an extra boost from the clutch.

Pros
  • Elegant design
Cons
  • A few little things

Mounting screws are missing

The chainring was exactly what I needed (oval 104BCD) but the screws are missing and the ring is threaded. To LBS for new screws and additional costs that should have been covered in this order.

Pros
  • Ideal for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Small parts

Very good quality and smooth pedaling

I replaced the 32 tooth oval with this one up 30. After many kilometers it has proven its quality and pedaling is as smooth as I expected. Installation was easy and quick with the required hardware that came with the chain. Highly recommended!

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • weak

Item received defective

The chain I received has a processing error that makes it impossible to hang in the chain. Rather than having alternating narrow/wide teeth, they are all the same width and zigzag from left to right rather than being lined up straight. I assume this is a quality control issue.

Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Unfashionable

Big oval chainring... Not enough bolts!

Come on... tighten the screws! The product itself is great - high quality, perfect finish, great fit, etc. But I'm downgrading it because it was frustrating for me to take apart my bike only to find I couldn't finish the project and wait Had to take a few days off - due to missing screws.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Expensive

Works perfectly! But NO instructions.?!?

I like the effect of this elliptical ring. Allows me to get that much needed 28 ton feel from a 30 ton star. I live in a mountainous area and would need to replace the crank on my MTN bike to accommodate a 28 ton setup. The only thing I would like is that they add INSTRUCTIONS for the correct placement of a small PICK on the inside of the chainring to align it with the crank. I finally found the answer online. Luckily my LBS pointed this out to me.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Will write later

The coolest! in Cycling

I have a Raceface Turbine 104BCD crank and this thing fits perfectly. I love the look and love that it fits directly onto the 104BCD crank. Others, like the Wolf Tooth, require the use of an internal 64BCD mount. This results in a chain that seems a bit strange to me. This OneUp necklace looks absolutely modern and I love it. I'm glad that OneUp uses a slightly more radical oval design than other brands (12 degrees of ovality and 115 degrees of sync) because I don't know if I'd make the oval…

Pros
  • Dope 🔥
Cons
  • So So

Definitely an improvement

I bought this as part of my transition from a 2x10 to a 1x10 setup. I essentially rode my 2x10 like a 1x because I was only using the smaller 26-tooth chainring. When I switched to this 30 ton chain, I knew I was going to lose the ability to climb grades. To mitigate this issue I purchased a wide ratio Sunrace 10 speed cassette which essentially eliminates one of the smaller cogs (maybe a third?) and adds a larger 42 tooth cog to the stock 36 tooth. Also bought a Goat Link so the Shimano XT…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Mostly good but...
