Poor to Average: Power tools and hand tools

They don't really last long. I find that they either chip or wear out very quickly. I can barely sharpen a 10 inch chain with a stone unless it brakes first.

Too weak! - Power & Hand Tools

Bought these for use with my mini grinder. Worked fine initially and is faster than a file. Maybe it's a combination of size and hardness. Broke after minimal use. Could be user error but the files are not shared? Good idea, but didn't work for me.

  • Absolute Legend

Oregon stones work well

I have been using these Oregon sharpening stones for many years. They will work in an Oregon Sure Sharp 12v rotary tool or a standard Dremel. Make sure you buy the right size/diameter for your chainsaw. Stones come in 3 or 4 diameters. The correct diameter is marked on the replacement chain case. Enables chains to be sharpened quickly and efficiently.

Pros
  • Delivery was very fast
Cons
  • Some bugs

Much better than the pink ones available at most outlets.

These works. They leave a very good edge when used at slow to medium speeds on a dremel (you don't need the tooth to get hot). As the name suggests, I used cheap pinks from a local farm shop. and while the pinks were one and done, if I'm lucky I see they'll probably last three sharpenings each. Highly recommended.

Good for First Pass

Will these stones work? Yes, and much better than pink stones. They sharpen the tooth of the blade, but like all stones, they wear out quickly and the stone's diameter and shape will change as the tooth of the blade wears away. These stones aren't bad for a quick first pass on a blade, but if you really need a sharp and consistent blade, buy diamond stones for finishing. The diamonds are set on a metal mandrel that holds its shape for an even cut.

Works as described. Economical and excellent sharpening

Be sure to check your chainsaw teeth for proper size. I used a hand rotary tool and sharpened the teeth on the chainsaw bar. The angle at which you grind your teeth is important. Do not overheat the teeth when sharpening. I put my finger on it to make sure it doesn't overheat. I paid $6 each time I had it sharpened and also waited 3-4 days for it to be picked up. These bits are sharpened 8 times. and there are 3 pieces in a pack. I reckon doing 24 sharpenings for the price of 1 sharpening at…

Cuts like new again

Bought these to sharpen my 18" Echo chainsaw with my Dremel 4000 series. The bottom line is these stones get the job done. When I first used this brand my chain was pretty rough. I only managed to sharpen the chain with the first stone once. But the chain cuts better than when new. If I just need to sharpen the blade, I can sharpen the chain twice in one fell swoop before throwing it in the trash. Thanks to them, I will never use a file to sharpen my chainsaw again. These little pebbles have…

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for seniors

You work multiple times. You must read this review!

UPDATE! Yes, it's rubbish, not worth the money. After just 2 applications on a 24 inch chain, the stone will take on an hourglass shape which will then add a curve to your top plate. I didn't realize it until I used the hand file again. A good name brand hand file is just about the best thing for getting sharper than a new edge.* I bought three different sizes of these, but this is probably the most common size. Different pitches. I'd say it's just as good like a hand file, but much faster. The
