Perfect for cheap 1x conversions.

Perfect for converting my 3x to 1x. Not narrow wide, but still much better than the stock middle chainring. Seems to be of good quality and very light. 5-bolt chainrings are hard to come by and narrow wide options are very expensive. This seems to do the trick for 1/3 the cost.

Pros
  • Transmission components
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Great chainring but maybe not for a speed

Feels well made and light weight So 4 stars. Mine seems too elliptical, I don't expect a perfect circle, but it took me ages to find that middle ground for chain tension on my single speed. Keep in mind that this is not intended for single speed. I just wanted my build to have fewer teeth. So if you're looking for a single speed chainring, you might want to spend a little more Skrilla on something else.

Pros
  • Sports and outdoors
Cons
  • I have no bad feelings everything is fine

The chain starts sucking in less than 2 months!

I bought a new chain and found that my very old chainring was worn out and stuck on the chain (chain sucks). I bought it and everything was fine for a while. Now, less than 2 months later, I have noticed that the chain is sticking to the teeth and the chain is slipping. I inspected the front sprocket and found that the gear teeth were deformed and the edges were knurled! The latest aluminum chainring has endured many years in rough and sandy off-road conditions. Now I just ride on the road and…

Pros
  • Chainrings
Cons
  • Low repairability

Works great with Shimano Octalink 3x9 cranks in middle position, 104bcd

Shimano Octalink 3x9 cranks (3 front, 9 rear or 27 speed total) with 104 bcd are oddly shaped. While the large and medium gears hang together on the same bolt circle (104mm), the medium gear (this one) has a slightly smaller inside diameter than the large gear. I'm not talking about the bolt circle diameter (BCD) but the actual inside diameter of the middle gear. In other words, the middle gear has more metal between the bolt holes and the crank than the big gear. I'm not sure why Shimano did…
