First of all I would like to say that this stand is bulletproof. It's sturdier than my bike's rack and can easily handle heavy loads. I bought it to travel with my road bike and for that it is more than good. It would probably be even better to mount it on a trail bike for bikepacking if the front fork is stiff. The front bars are angled down to keep the cables from rubbing against the wheel, and there are plenty of cable attachment points at the bottom.
