Good headset, see stack height

This is a normal headset, no chambers. they come loose and need to be lubricated accordingly. The stack height was too large for the frame entered. It was noticeably taller than the one he'd replaced and the locknut wouldn't screw in. I modified the one I bought to fit. Generally a quality item.

  • Doping 🔥

Good looks, good price, good performance.

Inexpensive headset for older bikes. It's not a true sealed bearing, which has the advantage that you can clean it and re-grease it if necessary, but it doesn't require the maintenance of a traditional caged ball set. High-end headsets are available, but this one strikes a good balance of looks, performance, and price.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Security

This headset restored my old bike's steering!

Before that I ordered the "Velo Orange" headset. The Velo Orange headset was just crap. He didn't line up and had a lot of plays that couldn't be adjusted. This one is AWESOME. It has cartridge bearings and fits the bike very well, and it was easy to get smooth play with smooth handling. The bike only drives like new with a headset!

Pros
  • nice thing
Cons
  • badly thought out

Surprisingly good quality seals, bearings and surfaces for the money in a hard to find silver finish. I haven't installed it yet, but it's worth keeping in the wings if I need it. It had two very small notches in the top shell but I can easily rotate them so they are behind the cable. Made in Taiwan for the curious. Stack Height: Top: 28.56mm maximum, Bottom: 12.29mm. 116 grams

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • I don't really like anything, everything is fine

Traditional 1 " threaded headset with 26.4mm and 27.0mm clevis.

I bought this headset to update a set of Schwann Prologue frames I bought in the early 1990's The fork on this frame had a 27.0mm crown instead of the more typical 26.4mm crown. This headset comes with two crowns. It also had sealed bearings so the aluminum shells weren't machined or traced, you know just put stock cartridges in. Good design, good price, works great. My only suggestion is a classic look with rounded optics rather than a more angular look. But functionality comes first :)

Pros
  • Durable Finish
Cons
  • Operating Speed

Great quality headset for older bikes

I really wanted this headset to work on my 1992 Specialized Rockhopper but the stack height was too high for my current fork height. The top nut on my fork would only catch 1 1/2 threads. This is probably because the closed bearing rings are taller than the old open bearing rings. Check and verify the stack height of an existing headset and compare to this one. This headset conveniently comes with 2 different sized fork crown bushings for the lower bearing set. One is 26.4mm inner diameter and…

fits my 1995 GT Speed Series BMX Jr Frame

Old BMX bike parts are hard to find these days. I read in reviews and product descriptions that it fits a 30.2mm frame with a 26.8mm fork. The fact that it also includes a 27mm ground ring is a bonus. I wasn't able to get the headset into the frame, so I paid $10 to my local Trek supermarket to get it done. The alloy construction exceeded my expectations but also raised concerns that I might damage them if I hit them too hard. The bearing isn't the bullet type you see on Cane Creek, it's the…

Updated approx 3,000 miles

Installed this on my Giant Team CFR road bike about 200 miles ago (circa 1998?). I had to buy a 5mm spacer as the 10mm stock was too thick. There are many tutorial videos on YouTube including how to create your own headset removal and installation tools. So I made my own tools for about $22 and saved a lot of money. This headset is beautifully finished and very sleek. My old headset made my steering wheel feel like a ratchet. Now she is smooth. Update 01/02/2020 After 5,000 miles this headset…

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options

Ideal for handlebars, headsets and stems

Fits the old JIS standard. High quality bearings, nice finish. The reviewer who stated that the JIS frame shell diameter is 30.2 is confused. JIS Frame Cup is indeed 30.0. The difference between JIS and ISO is the fork crown (JIS=27.0 and ISO=26.4). 30.2 frame shells are found on older Professional Campagnolo, Raleigh and some older French and Italian motorcycles. Older French and Italian bikes were the only ones available with 27.0 fork crown and 30.2 frame cup. As for the height, yes, it's…
