Difficult to use, no instructions

Comes with no instructions and no instructions are provided by the manufacturer. I had to watch a few videos on YouTube to understand it.

Pros
  • Free for educational purposes
Cons
  • Some minor things

Not for my tutntable- Dual CS-5000

This sensor is designed so that you can lower the tonearm onto it without turning the dial. Mine won't do that. We return to Raven.

Pros
  • Hands-free operation
Cons
  • I am silent

Simple but functional

Does the job perfectly. Sure, it won't give you the "high accuracy" that digital sensors give you, but it's easy to use and doesn't require batteries at all.

Pros
  • Very fast delivery
Cons
  • Modern

Overpriced for what it is

Works great if you are just starting out with vinyl and don't want to invest in a digital meter. However, not accurate enough for a high-end cartridge. You could probably find an unbranded version for a lot less, but it does the job.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Not the best

I'm finally using this mechanical sensor instead of a digital one.

Compact, simple and very accurate probe meter. You place the gauge on the plate and place the stylus on the dot mark on the gauge. The height of the measuring arm is 2-3mm like a normal LP, so you need to adjust the needle pressure so that the measuring arm is parallel to the surface of the disc. The sensor is ready to use - no batteries, no calibration.

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Miscellaneous Miscellaneous

Simple tool. Easy to use.

Accurate and easy to use. Only 2 plastic pieces but works like a swing. Put it on the turntable, shake the arm and place the stylus in the groove. Move the device until your tone arm moves neither up nor down. That's the power of the "needle" on your vinyl. I changed mine to 1.5 grams and it runs great and sounds great. A simple tool that verified the calibration printed on my arm and turntable.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Newer model could have been chosen

Great little gadget helped improve the sound!

You absolutely need one of these if you want to get the best sound out of your turntable. It's difficult to accurately measure downforce without weights. Not as accurate as digital I suppose, but I like its tiny form factor and ease of use. My downforce was a little off when I first tested it with this little gauge and since I set the correct TF weight I've noticed a pretty decent difference in the reproduced sound. Already recommended to friends ;)

Pros
  • Weight
Cons
  • Some difficulties

Buy analog and trust non-digital

I have $3000 cassettes and use this scale with a few others. I have a much more accurate digital scale from Japan, but I like these for a quick check. I think the main difference between this model and Shure is that Shure allows you to be more accurate with more markings. Size is the main reason Shures are much larger and have more marking area. I think for €15 you really can't go wrong. I mean, people want to buy something made in a Chinese sweatshop for the same price but different weight…

Ortofon vertical manometer - very good

Very easy to use. Confirmed that my tonearm has the correct vertical tracking force. The converter that came with my Project turntable was difficult to use and I had trouble getting a consistent and clear sound from my vinyl. This little device is easy to use, effective and inexpensive. I've just started using the record player again, enjoying my old records and buying new ones. I'm not an audiophile and this $16 plastic scale is probably for people like me. I have a decent 7.2 stereo and my…
