The chains aren't long enough

Received this item yesterday and attempted to install it on my compact Ford V8 today. The chains are not long enough to attach to the engine and there is no easy way to install longer chains. This is a serious disadvantage as adding two or three links to each chain cannot be very expensive. Other than that, it looks like a well-made load balancer.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Upgradable

Works great with big block V8 and bolted gearbox

I used this to fit a bolted Ford 390 and C6 to a Ford Thunderbird. Heavy and expensive pair of parts. I have to say I couldn't have done it without this tool and we were able to crank the handle to easily tilt it back and forth with all our weight on it! I was afraid it would be Har* or Frei*ht piece of shit, but it's not. Great product - highly recommend!

Pros
  • Perfect for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Big and bulky

It's worth it. Excellent tilting function

Works perfectly. Saves so much time and hassle while everything is connected. My only advice is if you're using the long sides of the motor mount tabs (using the threaded holes in the front and back of the heads), cut the short side of the tabs off the two screws that attach to the back of the heads They don't scratch your firewall. If you're using the short sides on top of the heads or through the head, don't worry.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled

Did a great job - lifts, lifts and jacks

Used this to fit a Miata engine and gearbox which is lighter compared to a V8. I was able to turn the crank a few times and get the entire rig at the right angle to set things up. Another reviewer said something was stamped Β£500 but there are 4 chains. 4 x 500 = 2000, probably for some safety margin to get the 1500lb rating. Sure, you can probably buy a little cheaper, but the extra $20 or $50 cost me peace of mind and ease of use.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Not the best

Can make load lifting and balancing easier

Quilt Lady Hubby Review: Bought because I needed to pull the engine out of a PU truck to install a long block. When I was a tech we always had one of these in the shop, but we wanted more control when lifting this thing. Unfortunately I couldn't use it because it was a 2011 Dodge Ram truck with a "Cab Forward" design and there just wasn't enough room between the engine and the firewall to use it. Chains ended up having to be used but the load balancer worked great when the engine was off and we

  • Certified
Cons
  • Not as thick as others

Can't beat the price.

I was disappointed to find the handle had ripped through the box and the chains had torn a large hole in the fresh new 'OTC' sticker which must have happened during shipping. Except for the threaded rod, which looks like a grade 5 material (I could be wrong) with a cheap zinc coating, everything else looked impressive. It actually had ball rings on the end of each shaft ring and all the pins were perfectly centered. The roller at the bottom of the beam has no berms, which can be a good thing…

Pros
  • Easy Installation
Cons
  • Vulgarity

A very well made product.

OTC is the same brand of jacks we use in the state repair shop so I knew it was going to be a quality product. I am responsible for the semi-annual and annual inspection of all our lifting equipment. The chains are held in place by brackets so you can swap them out for your setup without mounting plates, which is very handy. Mounting plates have holes on both ends to allow them to attach to intake manifold bolts or headers. The three adjustment holes are also excellent. The lifting eye is small
