Enhanced OXO Good Grips Corkscrew for Improved Ease of Use Review

I've never had an OXO product fail, but this corkscrew just doesn't do the job right. If I manage to get the cork out of the bottle then it's almost impossible to get the cork out of the screw. I had to use a knife three times to cut it out - useless! I don't use it very often, but I would like to go back now.

Wow. I have other OXO products that I like and use, but this one was disappointing. When I first used it, the corkscrew broke halfway through the cork. Correct, a corkscrew (curly spiral part) is not a cork. I managed to pull it out of the cork (the cork was still in the bottle) and upon examination it turned out to be beyond repair. So it works. I'm just glad it wasn't more than ten bucks.

I kept this opener as a backup but it's not my first choice. I bought this to replace a rabbit I had for many years that eventually broke and I didn't want to spend money on a new one. I found this opener to be slower than Rabbit (which is what I was expecting) and much more clumsy. In particular, the shoulder occludes the removed plug so deeply that it is difficult to grasp. I have to pull the end of the cork out of the bottle to leave it open enough to unscrew from the corkscrew.

We are big fans of Oxo products. Consistently well designed, reasonably priced and always satisfactory. Unfortunately, this pair of watches is our first disappointment with an Oxo product. It just doesn't work. We made two attempts on two different bottles before giving up and asking for a refund. The material is not strong enough. As you twist the cork, the plastic twists and flexes. It does not screw deep enough into a standard cork for two pressed wings to fully pull the cork out. Therefore,
