Great beginner photographers who like to shoot at night but don't use flash

My favorite lens. I travel a lot and my use case is to photograph friends on the beach during the day and at sunset, cities at night (including bars/clubs), food I eat (I'm Asian), and art in a museum. I hate using flash so this lens is perfect for me. If you're new to photography (like me) you'll need to use your feet to zoom in and out. I upload some photos, no special lighting, no photoshop and drunk. The pictures were taken with an Olympus OM-D or E-PL1 in combination with a lens.

  • Stable test results

A must have for low light shooters

This is a phenomenal lens and a must have for low light shooters. It's long enough to serve as a useful portrait lens, but it's really great as an all-round running lens. Background. As I said, the lens hood is a bit annoying, as it cannot be stowed upside down on the lens. I didn't find this lens unusually sensitive to flare (particularly indoors), so I don't use the lens hood too often. I really wish it could focus a little closer than it is (1in/0.3m) but I suspect that a closer focus…

The only prime lens you'll ever need!

I have a Panasonic GF3 and was shooting with my 14mm/f2.5 and an adapted manual Canon FD 50mm/f1.4 SSC lens. Both are excellent lenses. Now this 25mm/f1.4 has been added to my lens family and I finally feel like my collection is complete. Perfect lens for indoors, just like my 50mm but no manual focus and no need to go back 7 steps to capture a face. The build quality is as solid as any other Panasonic lens and true to Leica's signature style. It's not as thin as my 14mm but definitely 3x…

Lens Supreme on Lenses

If you're the type of person who spends all day comparing and comparing to decide which lens to buy, stop. I already did it for you According to DXOmark, a camera and lens testing website, the 25mm f1.4 is scientifically ranked #3 for the Micro 4/3 format. It costs just under the Olympus 75mm f1.8 (costs $400 more) and the Panasonic Leica 42.5mm f1.2 (costs $1,000 more). Science is not enough to buy it? How about example photos of what people have done with this lens? Search for the…

First impression and update in two years

Just received a used lens from Revain. Excellent condition for a used lens. Compared to my Olympus 17mm f1.8 lens, it's much sharper on my M5. I still like the Oly 17 lens but will be using it for most indoor shots. If you can afford it; Buy it. Low light performance is outstanding. It's quite large with the lens hood, but feels good on the M5. It will take me longer to decide if this is a better outdoor lens than the Oly 17/1.8. I prefer the 35mm as an outdoor lens, but this lens might change…

Fast, precise and worth the money.

I bought a 25mm Panasonic/Leica Summilux together with an Olympus OM-D E-M5 which I just ordered. This fantastic combination gives me exceptionally sharp images in almost any light (and I do a lot of street photography at night). The ultra-fast f1.4 aperture also enables a shallow depth of field with pleasant bokeh. This camera's autofocus speed is lightning fast, and since the lens is slightly larger than many micro 4/3 lenses, grab the manual focus ring and snap a shot almost as quickly. A…

Fantastic pictures!

Overall: I think u4/3 has really reached a turning point. Both Olympus and Panasonic offer quality bodies and lots of great lenses. This Panasonic lens is one such lens. The pictures are excellent. Pros: + Nice images + Fast aperture + Includes nice lens hood and acceptable body + Wonderful in low light (paired with OMD E-M5) Cons: - Price - Size This Panasonic lens produces amazing images in low light and all day. No visible artefacts and a field of view of 50 mm (full frame) ensure a natural…

Yes, take this lens, it's magic after all.

Oddly enough, the first time I tried it I thought it wasn't magic (my criteria for a great lens). Now I have the magic lenses Canon 50mm f/1.4, Panasonic 20mm f/1.7 and Olympus 45mm f/1.8. The Sigma 60 f/2.8 is shockingly good and deserves to be called magical, but that's another story. I'm not sure what's wrong with these first photos - operator error? Heaven never! Not a big deal, just nothing special. Luckily I did the right thing by craving this lens for months. Instead of sending him back…
