Great tool essential for carbon bikes

My Specialized S-Works Epic was disassembled for shipping, but unfortunately I didn't pack my torque wrench with forethought. After reassembling the bike and hand-tightening it, I did a couple of cross-country rides, but felt uncomfortable getting the torque right. I decided to purchase an ATD-1.2 (version 1.2 is knurled and you can set the torque value manually without a hex key) and am very happy with how well it works. As it turned out, the stem and seatpost were tightened. For more…

Good tool, bad cap.

The tool itself works very well. I have a carbon frame bike and need to make sure the bolts are not over tightened. I trust Park Tool for bike maintenance. However, the three stars are due to the poor workmanship of the grip cap/bit holder. This is the cheapest and worst quality build I've seen from these guys. He just doesn't stay. Luckily this tool lives in my garage so I can just leave this part alone. For $65 I expect the tool not to fall apart in places. Park Tool should remember this…

A Simple Tool for an Important Purpose

I like the cam release action of this tool compared to the smooth click release of some ratchet wrenches. As soon as it reaches the set torque value, it switches off. I use this cam trigger for most adjustments and need a simple torque adjustment. Its shape doesn't lend itself to tight spaces or adding extensions, but I think it's good for handlebar and seatpost adjustment. The torque range from 4 to 6 in 1/2Nm increments is unusual and suits the needs of my Giant bike. I can manually turn the…

Fits but doesn't fit Torque wrench

So for someone like me who sometimes has to disassemble the handlebars and stem of a carbon road bike to fit in a hard case, this is a potential find. I can leave the larger, more expensive ratchet torque wrench at home. However, given the park's excellent reputation and at this price point (about 70% more expensive than a similar Pro-branded product), I expected more. My magnet hasn't fallen out yet unlike some of the other posters here, but the engineers fell asleep designing one end of this…

If you only buy a torque wrench for your bike, you should buy

. This is parking tool. It's not cheap, but it's not "cheap" either. When you bolt a set of pedals to a bike, it doesn't matter if you tighten them to 45Nm or 40Nm. It's tight and it's a lot of torque. This torque wrench is also designed for a job it is *not* designed for. This torque wrench is great for tightening smaller bolts to an accurate low number torque value, and that's where accuracy matters. Need to attach a brake lever to a carbon bar and don't want to exceed 4 nautical miles? Fit…
