Exactly what I needed!

Reasonable price. I use them in my vegetable hydroponic baths and they do what I need them to! It seems to blow a lot of bubbles if you connect a powerful enough pump. I have a large pump feeding 4 of them and it works great.

Pros
  • Great product
Cons
  • Reliability

All my fish are dead! suitable for fish and aquatic animals

I bought it because of the great reviews. These stones instantly turned my water milky white. I took them out and started changing the water, but it was too late. I lost all my fish. There must be some poison in those stones. Maybe they sent me a bad batch but it's not worth the risk.

Good air stones are the best in the aquarium Pumps and filters

They pump a lot of air. They're cheaper than the ones with suction cups that you can install in your bucket/tank, but let them sink into the bucket, which is where I do DWC Hydro. They are probably best for hydroponics as they probably won't look good. excellent in an aquarium when visible.

One of the best DWC options!

When I started my DWC project last fall, I used large airstones like these in my buckets - they seemed to work pretty well to provide the dissolved oxygen my girls needed to thrive to be happy and prosperous. I started reading about using 1/4" drip line tubing to make a "diffuser/aerator". This seemed like a viable option, so I dropped my big air stones and built a dozen diffusers / Drip line based aerators After seeing the results after several months of using a drip line diffuser/aerator, I…

  • Not Everything Fits

Many manufacturing defects with black Aerostone sealant.

When sealed and not chipped they produce tons of microbubbles and a great air stone. Although after buying 4 packs 2 of them had broken off and had uneven black seal where it wouldn't stick. They provided prompt service to replace these 2, but then one of the 2 spares they gave me still had bad sealant - like they taped it around the hole and even after 12 hours of soaking, only air bubbles emerged right around that black sealant around . instead of pushing it through the ball's air stone. Be…

Cons
  • Weight

Well weighted, good connector but fails after 2 years.

I have ordered these stones several times. These air stones are a good size and weight, with a nice chrome connector. They stay in an aquarium or pond with no problem (unlike many other smaller rocks). many small bubbles. Albeit not consistently. There are some variations. Try 4 balls and one will be coarser and the other very thin. The reason I don't give them 5 stars is they still only last about 2 years because the area where the plug is glued in will break, just loosen/pull off the stone if

UPDATE - Totally disappointed - Doesn't work at all

I bought these in June and just today replaced all the hoses and air vents in our pond for the winter. NONE of these air stones work properly. Two of them have tiny bubbles oozing out around the connector adhesive. This is clearly a manufacturing defect. I have aquarium glue that I will use to seal the existing glue. If it works I'll do the same for the other three. If not, I don't have the $15 I paid in June. I'm not sure why it's so hard to find air stones that are actually consistently good…
