Description of 🐠 Penn Plax PEN-019 Air Pod Aquarium Air Pump - Power Outage Auto On, Ensures Fish Safety, 55 Gallon Capacity

Aquarium Air pump runs on 4D batteries when it senses that electrical current is interrupted. It will switch from electric to battery operated automatically. Pump is designed for ultra-quiet operation. Pump has an adjustable flow control dial with dual air outlets to customize your air flow according to your needs. A handy power indicator light helps to identify which power source is being used. Aquarium Air pump is safe to use in tanks up to 55 gallons and can provide power for 150 hours. Larger tanks would require more than one unit. Air pump uses 110 volt electrical current. A check value is recommended but not included in the kit. Pump is safe for both freshwater and marine environments. Operates on your home’s normal (AC) electrical power; pump will only switch to battery power (DC) if it senses an electricity outage, ensuring continuous tank aeration. Fish need a constant supply of oxygen for survival.

The pump eats batteries when operated from the mains. The whole purpose of buying this pump was to have a backup battery to run if the power goes out. There were two power cuts and there were new batteries in the pump and each time the batteries died when the power went out four more new batteries had to be put in to make it work and it only took about an hour each time.

This type of air pump is essential to protect your fish.

The Penn Plax Air Pod works well in our 55 and 20 gallon. Tanks (both work). We haven't had a power outage since we bought it but to make sure it would work during a power outage I unplugged it and yes it continued to work. I think we can trust him to save our fish if the power goes out while we're away. This pump is a small one-time cost to protect our significant investment. Cichlids are not cheap. Yes, we would buy another one.

can't get replacement filters

I bought two of these pumps and to keep them running properly and quietly I have cleaned the little dust filters on the bottom of the pumps. Now they need to be replaced and so far I can't find a replacement. This is definitely something I will try to keep in mind for future purchases. Update: One of these pumps is now making a lot of noise. He is only 1-1/2 years old. I go back and forth with Penn Plax and they tell me there is no warranty and no replacement parts for this item. It worked fine

Excellent result and mind.

Many days off! I have this Air Stone Bars food in 2 aquariums. The automatic switchover to battery operation works and the performance remains high. Although I haven't checked the actual battery life. But I have a pack of D batteries. For around $30, this is great peace of mind. We're in Florida, so we always prepare for the X word. So during the storm if the power goes out before we can start the generator or we have an evacuation I'll add batteries and cross my fingers. A little noisy. I have

Can't recommend enough!

Excellent machine! Does more than I hoped. You can set the air pressure to your liking and the automatic battery backup works wonders. This is the first dual line air pump I've ever tried, so I don't know if it's okay to have one line with a little more air pressure than the other. The lines are not the same length, that could be part of the problem. However, the pressure difference is hardly noticeable and should not be a problem for anyone. You can't adjust the pressure when running on…

With one set of batteries it lasted almost 4 days.

I had to transport aquariums and fish over rough terrain (over 2500 miles). Three coolers were ventilated with this air pump; 10 gallon, 15 gallon and 40 gallon. There are two nipples to which a hose can be connected. I had to use a T-joint on a pipe so I could get airstones in all three coolers. Airflow wasn't very strong on one of those passes, but I'm glad I can't report any casualties :) Battery usage is good too. My trip lasted more than 3 days with the pump running at maximum power all…

A useful pump that required two electronic repairs.

We bought this pump to transport our fish across the country by car from Denver to Pittsburgh. I wanted to have a fish pump that runs on 110V AC supplied by the inverter while the car is in motion and has battery backup when the car is off. This pump kept our fish alive on a trip to Pittsburgh 4 years ago and then recently on our return trip from Pittsburgh to Denver. (By the way, a great way to transport fish is to have a large plastic rectangular storage container that fits inside another…

has good airflow to date

At the time of writing I have owned one of these air pumps for about five years. It works for me 24 hours a day, doesn't give me any serious problems, to date it has good airflow and I like it. I bought it from another site but since I like it so much I decided to write about it on Revain. Advantages: - It has two air outlets and is very powerful. Good enough to power multiple aero bricks or sponge filters in multiple tanks if using a group valve or simply using multiple hoses and air line…
