K200D Amazing camera and $$$ price

I just got the Pentax K200D and it's amazing, my first thought when I picked it up was how reliable the camera is! Especially compared to Canon Digital Rebel XSi and Nikon D40! The kit lens is great too, very sharp and has a decent manual focus ring (hooray!). Pentax also included a lens hood! The camera is very sensitive when shooting, if you give the camera a second or two after taking four or so shots in quick succession you will be shooting fine in JPEG or RAW. fast and reliable in most…

Just right for old 35mm users

I have replaced my old Pentax PZ-1p and ZX-7 35mm SLRs with this camera. It has most of the professional features of the PZ-1p and many more automatic features than my ZX-7. The build quality is better than any other, with a steel inner frame and a sealed and durable dense material for the body. It feels good in my hand. The kit lens is really impressive and in normal light it achieves the quality of most fast prime lenses. The pictures I took are better than what I could have taken with 35mm…

extremely versatile and easy to use

I tried a few cameras to upgrade my 2003 Fuji and actually bought them - and sent them back! - the new Fuji in front of it. This Pentax K200D camera is great for many things. The settings are easy to use and they are very, very good as they aim and shoot on the "automatic" setting. The images are very good in color and detail. I'm by no means a pro - I'm still relearning what a lot of these settings mean. The camera doesn't overwhelm you with a million things, but it does give you choices. OR…

Great Choice - Camera & Photo

My Pentax K200D arrived over 3 weeks ago and I've taken several hundred pictures. I'm a dentist and I use this camera almost every day to take portraits and close-ups. My K200D is paired with a ring flash and a Sigma 105 macro lens. I also bought an 18-55mm lens in case I want to use it outside of the office. It's easy to use and allows you to capture beautiful high-resolution images that can be cropped and enlarged with great results. I chose this camera over Sony and Nikon cameras. , Canon…

Fantastic camera suitable for photography and photography

My wife and I wanted to invest in a DSLR for a trip to Peru. .-Excellent backwards compatibility with older Pentax lenses. (Currently we are happy using 2 70's Takumar lenses with this camera. Works very well with old lenses and the price of the old lenses allowed us to get a quality kit at a low price). - dial for shooting in full manual mode (aperture and shutter speed controls are intuitive) - very durable (this camera has been subjected to repeated knocks and bumps and continues to function

Phenomenal camera priced at

I bought my Pentax K200d from Revain late July 08 and have recently returned from a 47 day trip to the great American west. I took about 2600 photos in a variety of conditions: dust, rain, surf, museums, frozen mountain campsites, bright sun and dusk. I have a second set of lithium batteries. The original batteries that came with the camera lasted for over 1400 shots (with very little flash use). The results are amazing with excellent color saturation and clarity. And the camera is sturdy, much

Great, reliable, great picture, flexible, no nicks

If you're considering a DSLR, I highly recommend it. I've been using the K200D for 4 months now and I really like it. I compared several cameras (Nikon D60, Canon EOS XTi, Olympus 520) and then ordered the K200D after reading many reviews online (DPReview, CameraLabs and others). many years and point-and-shoot digital cameras (Kodak and Canon) in recent years. The Pentax feels much more solid in my hands than other DSLRs, a real machine. The camera specs were better than Nikon's (although you…
