Our fountain contains some iron so yellow stains will appear on the lines over time. We installed a Pentek filter and this cartridge is very effective in reducing small amounts of iron so we no longer have the problem of piping discoloration. Depending on your water usage, it will take around 6-9 months to replace and it's worth it to avoid iron damage. This is a great filter for removing diluted iron from well water. It also removes hydrogen sulfide. It must be paired with a DGD 5005 filter capable of removing iron particles and other debris.
