Not suitable for heater hose fittings.

I tried using this to remove the heater core hoses. It did not work. One problem was that the extra dimensions of the hose hampered trying to pull the tool into the hose fitting to loosen it.

Pros
  • Permanent Test Results
Cons
  • Out of fashion

Doesn't work in Tools & Equipment

I used to be a mechanic but these lines are new to me. It's garbage. It is not possible to disable lines with this tool. I bought a plastic device at a local auto parts store and the wires slid off like clockwork.

Affordable and Useful

I bought this to fix the air conditioning line in my car. Did the job very well. If you've had to use them all the time they feel a little flimsy, but the few times I use them will be fine.

It's like trying to cut a steak with a plastic knife.

Only buy these plastic tools if you plan on struggling for an hour to get the fuel lines apart. I learned the hard way about fuel lines in my suburb. The part that goes into the sleeve is too short and soft to work with. I wonder what genius thought of making this plastic to save a few bucks. Take metal scissors. Metalwork in seconds.

Pros
  • Confident
Cons
  • Unreliable

Bad Choice - Fuel Line Disconnect Tools

This tool was supposed to help me disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel tank/fuel filter on my 2000 Ford Mustang. I wanted to remove the fuel pump from the fuel tank and also change the fuel filter. With great difficulty, I was only able to detach one side of the fuel line. Looks like the lip was a little short. I bought another set of release tools (a scissor shaped metal tool) and it got the job done with no problems. I have invested a lot of time and money in this tool.

Pros
  • A few competitors
Cons
  • Some small things

Buy metal ones instead and save yourself the headache.

I bought this kit to replace the fuel filter on my Ford truck. The plastic was not strong enough to push the fuel line through the filter retaining tab. A suitably sized instrument was chewed and destroyed when one side of the filter was detached; it lasted half an hour. I ended up going to a local auto parts store and bought an aluminum PT scissor cutting tool. An aluminum tool detached the other side in seconds. They might be better used for AC lines but I haven't tried them yet.

Pros
  • Durable finish
Cons
  • Damaged
