Speed limited to 100 Mbps

I use this cable between my cable modem and router. Initially the cable worked fine (I was able to get the speed advertised by my ISP). Unfortunately over the course of a year now my modem reports that it can only see one downstream connection (to the router) which is limited to 100Mbps despite being plugged into the GB port on my router. All of my wired and wireless speed tests were below 100Mbps. Since my router was old, I bought a new router but continued to have the same speed issue. I've…

I have minimal Cat 6, NOT Cat 7

I didn't get what I paid for. I did NOT receive the Category 7 ground wire and gold shielded ends that I ordered. I have what looks like a Cat 5 labeled Cat 6. It has a nylon center gasket like most Cat 6s and some Cat 5s. But the twisted wires are loose Cat 5, not Cat 6. The connectors are standard RJ -45, NOT shielded. The copper strands are #26 or #28, I believe (I haven't measured them, but I've made a lot of patch cords, so know your wire). Unfortunately I spent a long time crawling around

Garbage if used for 1 gig speeds. Only < 90Mbps

Don't buy this junk if you plan to hit 1GB speed. The cable is bad. At 50 feet, the Netgear-managed switch utility complains of a cable failure. Because of this, you will never reach speeds of 1 gigabyte. This garbage says it's Cat7 but probably not even good Cat6. I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out why this isn't working and giving a gigabyte speed and after so many tries than using the netgear utility. This has been confirmed as a cable fault. I used a different cable, all ok. In…

No better than a cord and not even a good cord

Bought to connect my security system to the WIFI module. Too bad I didn't check it first and didn't think the CAT cable was meant to be plug and play, but I drilled holes that ended up in my drywall, threw tools at my wall to get at this cable, ran it all the way through. my attic to get to my security panel. It just won't work. I spent hours trying to figure out what I did wrong installing the module and security system, and then finally tested the cable on a device that I know works. And the…

Thin, cheap, shit! I doubt it's actually shielded!

In my opinion this cable sucks, almost no shielding! The photos were taken to make this cable look more durable than it actually is. I'm guessing somewhere in the 28-30 gauge range, which is pretty disappointing for a 200ft run. In fact, I didn't even bother to try it (I'm sure it worked) as the quality put me off so I decided beforehand. Even the case seems cheap (you can actually feel the twisted pairs in your fingers through the case, which makes me doubt there's any shielding at all!). I am

I wish I could test it the same day I got it

Already in the trash. Too bad I didn't test this thing out before putting it away for my future project. It could only run at 100Mbps on my Cisco SG200-26 switch. It ran at 100Mbps on a Luxul AWS 2426p switch. On some SOHO routers it ran at 100Mbps BUT on a Luxul Epic 5 router it could see 1Gbps but delivered 600 throughput. I opened Wireshark to see what was going on and saw an incredible amount of crosstalk and missed frames. I opened up the cable and found that it was not properly shielded…
