Slow as molasses in winter

My 1TB iMac was half done and wanted to move 300GB or 400GB to a flash drive. The first batch was 133 GB and should have taken 2 hours. After 2 hours they said it was 3 hours. After 3 hours the download info said it would take 4 hours. It took over 12 hours (I went to bed) to move 133 GB. Then when all 389GB (total) was moved to the flash drive I plugged it in. She didn't show any files. I went online and waited a bit. When I came back it showed that there were indeed files in the 133GB video…

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

Very slow, outdated file format - Not recommended

This drive is formatted with MS-DOS (FAT). This is an old file format with strict file size limitations. The drive is very slow and unstable in terms of write speed. It varies (jumps back and forth) from 60 MB/s to 80 MB/s. Read speeds are faster than write speeds, but still fall short of the 200 MB/s advertised by the manufacturer. Read and write speeds are much slower than a typical modern flash drive. Reformatting the drive to exFAT improves performance slightly, but this drive will never…

Pros
  • Excellent overall performance
Cons
  • Almost everything available

Dongle retracts

The title may seem odd but I have other flash drives where the working end either didn't slide out or came with a removable cover. This cap is easy to lose. This disc is retractable and also has a small hole in the retractable "handle" so it can be attached to a keychain or otherwise so it doesn't get lost, especially like I do when it's with me at work .

Pros
  • Waiting
Cons
  • Clarity

Good device!: USB sticks

I only bought this to store copies of most of my digital music. I had a 128GB drive but ran out of space and I believe this 256GB drive will last a long time as I don't add much music to my collection anymore. I especially like that the lid slides out to protect the end of the connector. . I've had cases where the button plugged in and unplugged a connector and one of them failed. I would recommend this device to anyone looking for a quality flash drive.

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Doubtful

Write performance is 2 orders of magnitude worse than advertised

I bought these for a quick backup while at work. They don't do their job. The writing performance is miserable. Somewhere one to three orders of magnitude worse than stated. Instead of 100 MB/s I get 15 for sequential write and 0.1 MB/s for random write. This is unacceptable. Unfortunately I redesigned the packaging as PNY discs have always been great before so I probably lost the money I spent. What the heck, PNY. I guess I can't trust you guys now.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Repair

I cannot recommend this disc.

I have other PNY actuators and have never had a problem. However, this was a problem from the start. The pc couldn't always see it. and it will fluctuate in speed, sometimes it will boil, and then suddenly it will really draw. So, the disk formatted, fully formatted. I haven't won anything. A few times, however, the computer saw it. and now the TV doesn't see it at all. So I bought it, tuned in to the movies and watched it on TV. My smaller PNY does the job well, but I figured I'd have access…

Pros
  • Heavy duty construction
Cons
  • No automatic

Reliable computers and accessories

I've been using it for over 8 months now and it has never let me down. I strongly recommend this product. This is a good option for daily backups. I have a second WD 3.5" 2TB external USB drive to back this up so I don't have a single point of failure. I don't use the C drive for my data as the built in drives have proven unreliable when it comes to Windows system crashes which in most cases require a factory OS update. This is Microsoft for U. This drive was accidentally bent (the USB…
